Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Shiloh I hope they do.. When my SR called last Sunday he said he probably wouldn't get to call again till June... It was only an 11 minute call but it was better than not hearing from him at all. Just miss him so much❤️⚓️

TMansmom: Go on the "no news is good new"s theory. The fact that you have not heard from him indicates that he is still training on schedule and has not been asmoed (setback) in training. I agree with Lala....there is still time for him to pass!

I will be in San Diego to visit my Sailors and will be having a meet and greet while I am there. I would love to meet all my Navy Moms friends so if you are in that area please join us. I am super excited about this trip and looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible Please be sure and RSVP so I can get a count of how many are coming. We are meeting in Seaport Village on Saturday June 7th at 11:30 am. Try not to worry TMansmom, It is still early and there is time for him to pass any test he is having trouble with. It is common for them to think they are getting call and then not get to make the calls. Hopefully you will hear good news from him very soon.

RockportNavyMom: The SRS LOVE getting the letters from the little ones....we have heard before how many love to write back to them! It is great motivation to the SRs to have these little ones look up to them becoming sailors! So glad your school sent those letters!

Shiloh: The seating at PIR is bleacher seating, some on the Hall Floor and the rest in the balcony. The seating is divided up into division sections....with an honor guard/division number out in front of each section.

I echo LisaPNM's sentiments. With your help I feel everyone will have a much smoother, less stressful, and more enjoyable time at PIR. I know I feel much more secure and safer in knowing you are all going to be there since I am traveling alone. It sure is putting my mind at ease.

Thank you diannep for all the info and advice. What would I do without this site. My husbands blown away at the info I obtain from you ladies. So grateful for y'all! Im going to remain on this forum for a longtime after pir, to pay it forward and help the newbies like ne :)
