~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Me too. I can't wait to talk to my SR and see if he received/wrote a letter to the kids. He is in DIV 814..Knowing him he did... He loves kids.
RockportNavyMom I asked my son if he knew your SR in my last letter. Awaiting a response. Amazing how many of the SR's my son did know! Turns out his first bunkmate was Moonwillows son:) So cool!
Oh my gosh! it is making me cry just thinking about your elem. kids. It has got to be exciting both for our SR's and for your kids. They really are a truly great group of future Sailors!! Only a few more shorts weeks and we will get to give them all big {{HUGS}}:)
My elementary school sent cards and letters to 814 and yesterday I got 20 envelopes in the mail. The recruits had written back to about 35 kids. Some of the guys had written 3-4 kids. I was so impressed. I was on my way to my daughters softball game when I began reading them and I just cried like a baby. These young men have truly touched a place in my heart. I knew that they all had to be blessed to have volunteered for the navy and for 800 division but to go out of their way to make a child's day! WOW! Those kids couldn't wait to write back and I'll be sending another batch of letters soon. Thank you to the families of these young men. You did a marvelous job of raising them right.
.and, Lisa, those flying out on Sat will be bussed in the middle of Fri night to wait for flights. So, no, there would be no Liberty for them on Sat. Some who have sailors flying out later in the day may be tempted to take them away from the airport, to sightsee, etc. Although it is no prohibited, and the USO personnel will tell you to have them back 3 hrs before flight time, it is a risky thing to do. If anything happens and they miss their flight to A School....uh oh. So we don't recommend it.
For those who have sailors flying out later in the day from OHare, there is a Hilton actually within the Airport. We understand that they charge a $55/day rate for those who may want to get a room, relax, and be away from the airport frenzy. Others who have done this said it was wonderful and allowed their sailor to rest before heading on his/her next Navy journey!
Lisa: Most of the sailors will fly out on the Saturday after PIR, but occasionally, they can't get flights until Sunday. SO plan to stay until Sunday...just in case! If they don't fly out until Sunday, those sailors will have Liberty on Saturday. Remember, you can also meet them at the airport and visit with them. Take ID for an airlines gate pass so you can wait until their plane leaves.
Good morning!
Happy Friday!!

for the soul, firm and secure."

llamotte,
Your family can either come in earlier or stay later after your Sailor flies out to explore the Chicago area yourselves--after all, the airfare and hotel has already been taken paid for!
