Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Shiloh, Our recruiter said that the program is tough but if the sailor stays focused and does not get hurt they should be ok. My son has been working with his recruiter for about 8 months before BC and his recruiter feels good about him making it though. He said one of the biggest causes of injury is trying to outdo other sailors and basically overdoing it. He should compete against himself and better himself. He stressed the saying focused part.

Also she said that Div 203 was on a 2 week hold but are now all caught up. That was a big sigh of relief. Here's hoping everyone hears something good today too!

Oh Happy Day! Received my first letter today from my daughter in Div 203!!! She's doing great - Said it's coming easy to her! One question. The return address on the envelope she wrote was different from the address she gave me in the form letter. Why would that be???

I talked with my SRs recruiter today about the 'weeding out at dive school' He said that if a sailor does not pass dive school then there is a about a 60% chance that they will be given 3 or 4 other career choices. Those in Spec Ops programs have a few more options as far a career choices than a general sailor is given. There is about a 40% chance that they will just be placed where they are needed. All of this of course depends on availability of other jobs and what is going on in the nation.

There is a picture of their seabag on the Liberty rules link that I posted below for Navywife&mom. It is a good size and can be pretty heavy! But I know that your sailors are strong! :-) Seriously, most are amazed at the shape they are in at PIR. Many arrive at Bootcamp in great shape, but others may have gotten in the great shape there!
