OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Got my first letter today. It was SOOO nice to here from him. I am kind of sad though because he implied that he has not received any letters from us. I know we have sent him at least 4 letters. Does anyone know why he would get them?

BTW I have had my hotel and train tickets booked for awhile. Glad I did it it early. I am staying at  the Navy Lodge

Bubbiesmom, Did your son get the date when he left for GL, and when did he leave? If he did get the date, what he was given would have been the date he was to leave for A School, since the 28th is a Sat, grad date would have been "expected" on the 27th.

If his recruiter now has the 20th as the grad date, I would guess that would be the date, and like diannep said, call the recruiter again and ask for a division number, that will be the key. :)

You should get the form letter soon. :)

Bubbiesmom:  I agree with Navywife&mom.  The form letter will have the correct info.   There is no list of SR's names that we are privy to so you can't find out that way.  Can you ask the recruiter for a division number?  It might help us determine where you need to be.

Bubbiesmom, did you get the "formal letter" yet? It has the graduation date and his ship and division. Again that date is tentative but it's pretty dead on, unless your SR gets set back for some reason. We already booked a room and you use the date on that letter. Hope this helped you.

Is there a way to find out who graduates on June 20th.  I mean a list of names.  I am getting somewhat confused.  I was told first the 28th by my son and then his dad called his recruiter and was told the 20th.  We too would like to get our hotel and planning started.   Can anyone help me find out what division my son is in and if his grad date is the 20th or the 28th    Thank You

I should add that since there is a big theme park nearby, hotels book up quickly during the summer.

Comment by diannep on May 8, 2014 at 11:11am

If you book your airfare on Southwest Airlines, there is no change fee if your SR is delayed in training....and 2 bags check for free.  Recommended hotels from others on this site....are:

Navy Lodge, a mile or so from RTC....book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID (or they will change from your name to sailor's name when you check in)

Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Courtyard Inn.....ask at these for the Navy graduation rate.

It is not too early to make reservations....if you book directly with the hotels, there is no penalty if you have to cancel for any reason as long as you do it by the deadline, which is usually the day before or day of arrival.
