Lorena:  To add on to what Julie said, their "training" days are actually 6 weeks long.  They are counted like this:  1-1 (week 1, day 1).  The days are counted 1-5, and are only weekdays.  Weekends and holidays do not count in training days.  By 6-5, they are ready for BattleStations (their final test and they are sailors) and they PIR during week 7.  Processing days, and waiting for PIR after BattleStations make up the other days that usually add up to 8 weeks.

I received the form letter today.  My son left April 23rd and now my daughter has decided she wants to go!

Lorena, my son left on 4/18 as well, got his form letter today and 6/22 is PIR. He's Ship 03 Div 187.... it' by chance and by golly as to how they get in a division, sometimes if they had to have some dental work that may have delayed them for some reason or just that the divisions filled by the time they got finished up with processing. I have a son who graduated on 10/7 and he was in a push division so his PIR was in 7 weeks, that was a surprise as well. Benefits to being in each and drawbacks... and NO New is GOOD News indeed! Youngest son deploys on 6/10, so June will be a busy month... from Colorado.

Lorena- p weeks dont count toward the 8 weeks that they are at bootcamp. The reason they dont count that is because its setting up stuff and doing shots and filling out papers.

trcolitti - our son left Lansing, MI on 4/24.....got the box on Friday.  Hoping to get the formal letter this week - maybe Wednesday?  I don't know when they start counting the 8 weeks - our recruiter told me either 6/22 or 6/29, but Division 931 has PIR of 6/15, and my son is in Division 932, so I'm hoping for 6/22!  This is my first time around - sent two older boys off to college.  My SR went to college for a year and decided it was not for him, and came home and enlisted.  We have one younger son at home yet.  I think it's the not hearing from them and not being able to find out how they are doing that is getting to me.  I keep telling myself no news is good news!  :)

I am somewhat confused,... hopefully someone can help me figure this out.  My son left Apr 18 and his PIR date is 6/22.  But 8 weeks would be 13th of June.  Do they not consider the 1st week(processing) toward the 8 weeks of BC?  thanks in advance to anyone who can answer that. :)
