RACW - our boys are together forming that arch for the high ranking individuals to walk through. Mine also said they perform their duties, and then they get to go to some room also! He said to start looking for them starting June 8 PIR in pictures on FB. I guess that's when they start their duties!
Livia: I agree with juliebelle from what I have read on this site for a long time. You shouldn't have a problem getting a gate pass. Try and be at the airport when your sailor arrives. Makes things a bit easier.
Julie: Sure hope that call comes for you soon....for yours, your SR's, and your son's sake!
Yay for phone calls!!! So happy for you.
Good Morning everyone and Happy Saturday. Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had to take my Mom to the Doc and then we went shopping. I needed supplies and she just needed to get out of the house :-) We finally have a new Joann Fabric Store in Asheville :-) Loving that we have a new place but man fabric just gets more and more expensive!!! But I did find fusible vinyl. You can iron it to any fabric and make it waterproof. How cool is that? Now I just have to figure out what to use it on lol. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :-)
I'm not sure where the best question to ask this is, but when meeting my SR at the airport after PIR, before he flies out to A school...do I need to be an actual "family member" to obtain a gate pass? I'm a girlfriend, not a family member, so I wonder if that would somehow exclude me. Does anyone know about this?
TERESACE: My son called today, too, and we talked for about 20 minutes. He is in the same division and said that we may only see him for five minutes during PIR because he will be working behind the scenes. He said he will be a "side boy". I guess the eight "side boys" form an arch and salute the captain as he walks into PIR...after that, my son said he will disappear and be taking care of things out of view. I'll be so happy to see him afterwards that not seeing him at PIR will be OK.
Got a phone call from my boy today! We got to talk for 20 minutes, I was in heaven! He said they sometimes wake them up in the middle of the night to iron their clothes (like 2 am) and then they can go back to sleep! Yikes! He said the first night he thought 'what the hell did I get myself into', but it progressively has gotten better. He said he is in the staff division and won't be marching in the graduation. I'm bummed, because I won't get to see him. Does anyone know what that means? He also said he is in the athletic division? Not sure what all of this means. Not sure if he will get anymore phone calls, but I sure hope so, it was so good to hear his voice and he sounds so grown up!!!
Div. 932 is getting phone calls.....just got off the phone with my boy!!!!! He coughed the whole time and said that at least 1/2 the guys were sick with it.....but none of them wanted to go get checked out.....
