Julie, I hope you get a call soon. After yesterday, I am not going anywhere without my phone. I did get 4 letters today. He had the wisdom teeth pulled last week...He wrote on Mothers Day..That letter was a tear jerker !! All these SR recruits are missing their families as much as we miss them...Can't wait for June 22 :)
instant communication...sometimes we love it, sometimes it drives us crazy! These "kids" expect instant access to us at all times (in the civilian world!). My son (now out of the Navy) asked why I didn't answer the phone when he called yesterday --- since I had just texted him a couple of minutes before. I asked him if it was ok that I used the bathroom? He told me that it was ok....hmmmpfff! :-)
Elena: Many times, the first letters you all receive from them ask why you haven't written. In almost all cases, your letters have "crossed" in the mail and they have received them by the time you get your letters.
Julie: The first letters from them many times are sad and dejected. I remember reading a long time ago in a "blog" detailing their feelings during bootcamp that in the beginning, many feel they can do nothing right because of the screaming and yelling. Just know that this changes by training week #4 (bootcamp week #5 or #6). By then, they have accomplished alot and are more positive and they have the "end" in sight. So just keep writing your hubby lots of encouraging letters...even if you are feeling sad, try not to let him "see" that. They need nothing but positive to get through this...lots of encouragement. If you can think of others he is close to who may be willing to write to him, that would help! They need all of the "home" support they can get. I agree with juliebelle....chin up...it does get better and A School is a whole different thing! Much better with contact back in place!
Elena all the meet and greets are family friendly, so yes all can attend.
quick question...to anyone who might know the answer..for the meet and greets, do people have to be a certain age? i have my boyfriends father coming but also his younger brother who is only 13? will he be able to attend?
i've only received one letter so far...it was a sad letter, and he thought i hadn't written to him since my letter hadn't reached there yet.
i haven't received my 2nd phone call yet...i hope i get one soon.
RACW - I'll remember that when I'm standing in the shower under my hot streaming water for 20 minutes!
