Hi everyone, I just added a discussion on my experience during my sons PIR on 5/4/12.  I hope you find some of the info helpful!  Sounds like some of you are getting calls!  Enjoy!

I got my call tonight...he sounded really good. Said their division is coming together as one. I feel like a new person getting that phone call! :) I hope you all received one as well!

Devon:  phone in the bra during bootcamp!  :-)

So sorry, Julie...I sure hope he is able to call you soon.  Sounds like you both need a call...and soon!  Like Lala said...hang in there...it won't be long until he will be in your arms again!  I have a friend whose sailor is currently making his way back to the CA on his ship...she hasn't seen him since January...needless to say, she is very anxious to be at the "Homecoming" of this ship when it finally arrives!   Bootcamp is good training for those deployment times...although during deployments, many times they can email and sometimes call.  But not always!  Military families are some of the toughest and strongest in the world!

Devon, so sorry you missed your call. I missed a call for information, and I was sick to my stomach. All of us need to keep our phones on and in hand. I have been carrying my phone in hand all week. If I have to travel and need my hands, I put it in my bra ;-) In the car, I put it next to me and turn on the Bluetooth. If I had kept my phone in my purse, I would have missed the call while fumbling for it :-(

I agree with Marcy - these kids are stronger than we give them credit for.  We, as moms, really put ourselves out of jobs when we do a good job raising them.  They don't need our "mothering" as much; they need us more as friends and support!  I would advise all the new moms that it isn't going to be easy not hearing from your SR - it, in fact, sucks; but when you get that first letter (mine was 4 stinkin lines, but it meant the world to me because it has been 3 weeks and 1 day since I saw or heard from my boy), it will make your day!  Just keep positive about PIR and looking to the that date and how much the Navy is teaching our boys/girls and what an awesome opportunity they have been given!

Enjoy every minute you can, and know that they will do well and be ok, even if things get tough!! These kids are stronger than we give them credit for..

They were doing dental work today, so if your SR had to have work, that may have delayed them.

Julie it could be that he had watch while calls were being made. Or wisdom teeth could have been pulled and he could have been SIQ when they made the calls. That happened to my daughter and she was so mad. She finally go to make the call up on Sunday evening. I was the only one in our group that didn't get a call and I was so worried. I felt much better after she got to call and then I got a 4 page letter of her ranting on and on about not getting to make the call. Then the last paragraph was all happy cause she finally got to call lol. This is definitely a roller-coaster for everyone.
