I found out today that one of my SR's friend's mother is following the Recruit Command Center FB page.  I e-mailed her and thanked her and gave her my boy's address.  I'm SURE she will write if she has taken the time to follow that!  We live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone....it was great with our boys growing up because they couldn't get away with ANYTHING without someone telling their dad or me!  :)

Julie...I am sure that your letters are like gold to him! Yay on your travel arrangements! How exciting for you both...I bet your son is excited!

When my son was at bootcamp, I contacted a couple of his favorite teachers (he had been out of high school for several years, but these teachers were very pivotal in his life).  I asked if they would mind writing to him.  Both of them did.  Meant alot to him.  So...if any of your SRs have favorite teachers, coaches, neighbors, etc...be sure to ask them too.  Your SRs will find a new level of appreciation/gratitude in bootcamp... they will appreciate so much more than you ever thought that they could!

I sent our SR's address to EVERYONE - even folks in our church who may not even WANT to write - and told them to WRITE!  I know he would love to hear from his brothers, but the 2 older ones are so used to using texts or e-mails, I'm not sure they even know how to write a REAL letter.  Our youngest son has typed him a letter on the computer, sent a card and draws him pictures of a Navy ship to send with his letters.  In my last letter to our SR I asked him if there was someone there who didn't get any mail, and to send his name so I could write to him.  I told him I thought the saddest thing would be to NOT get mail when everyone else was getting it.

so, Julie...Monday will be 2-3 for your division.  They will be starting week 3 on Thurs.

Good morning everyone!

Julie, I sure hope that the rest of his family writes some letters--in addition to yours.  They have the address, right?  It is so important for the SRs to have lots of mail--the more the merrier...from many different people.  As my son said when in bootcamp> "it is our connection to the outside world...."
