I just heard from a fiance of Ship-3 Div-189, She got a phone call and 5 letters yesterday!
LaLa - thanks for that Youtube......here I sit at my desk with tears running down my cheeks! Our servicemen and women give up ALOT for their country! What a great homecoming this young man had!
My husband also thinks I'm nuts! I told him I am! Nuts over my children! :) There could be worse things, right! I'm sure you all agree....there is really no love quite like the love of your child and we will go through great lengths to know they are safe and sound and when you are waiting on a call or a letter because you have no other communication....it does make us a little nuts! :)
I have so many little rituals I do every day in honor of my boy! When we had his going away party I had dog tags made with his name, US Navy and ship out date on them....I gave them out as party favors...I wear mine every single day without fail. I know lots of his friends post that they have theirs hanging on their wall or mirror or some wear them as well. It's nice to know he's getting lots of positive and supportive energy from friends and family.
I hope we all get "our" letters today. I know I will be running to the mailbox today after work! :)
mom2five: Totally understand you bypassing the swim opportunity waiting for a phone call! During bootcamp, all become a slave to that phone. It is painful to miss their calls...but stressful to be tied to a phone for so long...but so worth it! Hopefully you will have another swim invite....right after you have talked to your SR so you know another call won't come for a while! :-)
Hello Ladies - I'm sure the letters are on the way. The funny thing is my sister received a letter from my son yesterday but lo and behold no letter in my mailbox. We live in different counties in Southern California so that may have something to do with it. I made her read it to me over and over again. I was just so happy to hear his words. He's doing well, adjusting to the lifestyle but thriving and excited to PIR. I'm sure you'll be hearing from your Recruits too. I will be stalking my mailman again today until I get my letter!!
You guys have to see this video. It brought tears to my eyes this morning when I was watching the news. Here is what his mom said. “When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!”

I'm at work and always have N4M open on my computer and check it constantly (as you can tell)! :) I've thought about going to the post office and checking during the day if I have a letter BEFORE they sort it and send it out with the mail carrier, but I guess I'll just wait until I get home to check! I don't want to leave the house at night in case a call comes in! My husband thinks I've totally lost it...... I told him he just didn't understand a mother's heart!
many prayers for Tyler's Mom,for Tyler and his whole family. Hopefully it is just a stress fracture because those can heal pretty quickly with lots of rest. Keep us posted Tyler's mom and let us know how he is doing.
mumof4- I believe they are called Triple Threat because that division includes the band, choir, and drill team. Most of the time it also includes the flag corp but sometimes there is a separate division for the flag corp. They are pretty amazing. I can tell you that for sure :-)
