For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

I have heard that they do not take the money out of the SR paycheck anymore.... but I just read a post over on the BC group that someone just talked to the photo lab today and they were told her they do take the money out of their paychecks. And she said they told her that they will only take a check from the SR so if you send a check to your SR it will not be accepted.???? Not sure what to think now....

Comment by Livia on May 8, 2012 at 10:08am: My SR said they were allowed to write on Sunday, he said to expect some letters this week. He said that he had received 3 of the 8 letters that I'd mailed. Can't wait for a letter! I guess I'll keep stalking the mailbox :)

Comment by mumof4 (ship 02, div 932) on May 8, 2012 at 8:44am: I think we're ALL hoping for a letter this week. Everything I've read states they can write on the 2nd Sunday of BC which would have been May 6...... so hoping my SR felt the need to write home to his mama!
