I thought about doing that with my voicemail greeting...I think I just might do it now! He needs to know that he is on my mind every part of the day and that if I miss the call doesn't mean I am not CONSTANTLY hoping he's well and happy and that I miss him so much!!! What # as in what cell phone number?

Comment by Julie (ship 3 division 188) on May 5, 2012 at 6:29pm
Mumof4 I do the same exact thing. I know the mail runs by 12ish everyday so I always am waiting for the mailman.

I didn't even know when they could start writing! I thought that when we got the form letter with the address it meant letters were okay. I have been standing by the mailbox every morning when the mailman gets here like a crazy person waiting for something, or handing him my letters. Even when I try to sleep in, I wake up right before the mail gets here and it's the first thing I do every single day except Sunday! How sad!

I'm worried about missing a call at some point when he gets one because I am not allowed to have my cell phone on me at work and there is no exception, I've already tried. I will be devestated.

mumof4:  Make sure you take that phone with you when you run to the mailbox!  We N4Moms veterans have seen missed SR calls during this time...when in the bathroom too!  Remember....your cell phone is your "constant buddy and best friend" during bootcamp!  :-)

Comment by mumof4 (ship 02, div 932) on May 5, 2012 at 4:40pm

I realize it is absolutely crazy, but I run to the mailbox every day!  It's not like I'm going to get anything from him, but there's that little glimmer of hope each day when I get home from work.  If they cannot write until week 3, that means nothing this week either!  :(  But I'll keep running to check and see.......

I do too.. Some days are better than others..
Comment by Skyla (SHIP 07 DIV 191) on May 5, 2012 at 3:23pm

I hope so because I miss him tons!!! I think the letters will help once his start coming in. Right now I just sit and wonder how he is and if he's alright. Come on PIR!!! :)

mumof4:  Totally agree with what your hubby said.  That gave me peace too when my son was in bootcamp...not "out", safe and sound and being watched over.  Yes, yelled at, strict schedule, lots of learning...but safe!  :-)

Comment by diannep on May 5, 2012 at 9:44am

mumof4:  Most of their training is inside, and if they are marching, they have wonderful trenchcoats that provide protection from rain/cold.  My son was there during the winter months and being a FL boy, I was sure he was freezing.  He wasn't...said they made sure they had appropriate clothing on at all times.
