That's awesome Yaris! Nothing yet from my son who is PIR6/22/12 Ship 03 Div 188, darn it! But I did get a phone call yesterday morning because he needed information for his security clearance. Good to hear his voice! Hope all is well with your hubby! My son said there were a lot of people sick with a bad cough, yuk! Maybe that was just in his ship :(. Did he say how things are going or what they have been up to?
Skyla: Contact SARGE re: your transportation needs. That may be the best plan for you:
847-212--0246
You can text him if you like. He WILL get back to you, for sure. He is the one who holds one of the MeetNGreets but also has a taxi service there and treats the Navy families wonderfully! He is retired military.
Tyelersmom: Milwaukee is the easiest to get to and usually cheaper than the Chicago airports. But if you want a Chicago airport, OHare is closer. Midway is the furthest...and traffic in Chicago is no fun!
Check out the special one-way fares on Southwest....they fly through Midway and Milwaukee. No change fee, 2 bags ship for free.
Here is my repost on "paystubs":
Julie - You had asked on BC Moms about your hubby's "paystub".I answered there but was not sure if you saw it so thought I would repost here.
You will receive a paycheck but not a paystub. If there bank statments come to you you will see the deposit (Paydays are the 1st and the 15th...you'll see the money a day early.)
All military personnel receive LES'... Leave and Earning Statements...the equivalent of a paystub. These are generated on myPAY,https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx, the Sailor is the only one who has access to this. Either with his log in info or CAC card reader. (He can grant this access to you when he needs too by supplying you with his log on info...my hubby did when he was deployed)
Here is what an LES looks like and how to read one:
can anyone tell me which airport is closest to the base? I am driving to GL but need to fly back. I have heard O'Hare and Millwauke are about the same distance.. is that true and Ive heard something about an airport name Midway??? Any info would be great... thanks :)
No worries! I just deleted my comment I was reposting about pay stubs! Duh! Doing to many things at once! LOL
Sorry, I think I deleted it! I am computer delayed that's for sure :). Thank you for the info, what a nervous nellie I am, geez. Pressed the wrong button to respond, duh! Think I better get some more sleep or something!
Okay...oh, what happened to your other post...He is one of the ones where BC is going to be about 9 weeks total. So he had longer "P" days. Don't worry...if they started Week 1 of training this week they are right on track.
Fr'instance...lets say Wednesday 5/2 was Week 1 Day 1...then:
5/9 - W2 D1
5/16 - W3 D1
5/23 - W4 D1
5/31 - W5 D1 (It is now a day later because of Memorial Day...Federal Holidays are treated like Sunday)
6/7 - W6 D1
6/13 would be W6 D5...the last Day of Training (DoT)
Week 7 is Battlestations and PIR.
So that's 6 weeks of actual Training, Battlestations week and two weeks of "P" days (soem of that "on hold" for your son)
BC can be 7.5 to 9 weeks...during Christmas time those folks are looking at at least 10 weeks because of the stand down time on RTC (all bases have holiday stand down for two weeks. At RTC...training goes on as usual...just some more hold time before and after actual training...no new recruits arrive during stand down time).
FireTeamLeaderWife~ He arrived April 19th and he is: Ship 03 DIV 188
