Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I called the hotel and they were much nicer than their reservation line. :-)

Comment by mztessa1 on May 28, 2015 at 3:23pm

ellen0502 well i just got off the phone with Courtyard Marriott reservations (HOW RUDE) I asked about early check out due to my circumstance and first off they act like they didn't have a special rate for graduation, secondly they said its at the discretion of the hotel if I can check out early as its considered early check out. Ughhhh  I  am not going to get frustrated I promise I won't.  Not today. :-)

Comment by ellen0502 on May 28, 2015 at 3:20pm

mztessa1, Most if not all hotels have a generous policy in cancelling reservations, leaving early etc. They understand why you are there, and how things can change at the drop of a hat.

Comment by mztessa1 on May 28, 2015 at 2:58pm

Ok can someone provide me with a list of the hotels again as the feeds are too long for me to go back through to find.  Also, I think the Navy Lodge is booked up already.  Thanks in advance

Comment by mztessa1 on May 28, 2015 at 2:52pm

Cancelling as wespeak, no need for me to read reviews. LOL.. I get the jist and the point. Thanks so much for the follow-up and insight. LOLOLOL...

If we book at other hotels and our SR leaves before our expected check out date I wonder if we can checkout without penalty.  My SR is scheduled for 7/2 and I have been hearing that they could be flying out to school on Friday and I was planning to book until Sunday? Hhhmmmm...  I hate the "unknown"

Thank you ellen0502 appreciate all the information!

Comment by ellen0502 on May 28, 2015 at 2:37pm

kandie88, They can come on any day of the week, between 8am and 8pm ish. The exception to that rule is on Fridays and Sundays they generally don't come before 1pm, the current PIR, and Sunday services take priority.

My two phone calls, three years ago, came on Thursday.

mztessa1, The Ramada, as I understand, is going through some remodeling. I would highly recommend that you read the reviews about the hotel before you decide to stay there. (Ellen0502 clears her throat) We have heard several stories from previous stays (hint, hint).

Comment by kandie88 on May 28, 2015 at 11:51am

diannep I know phone calls are random when they get to make them but I was wondering if they usually come on the weekends or could it be during the week too?  My sons division didn't get to make calls over the weekend so I was just curious.

Comment by mztessa1 on May 28, 2015 at 7:29am

diannep can you or anyone tell me about the Ramada hotel on Green Bay Rd.  If the accommodations are feasible?

Also am I able to hug and kiss on my Sailor at PIR?
