For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Navy Lodge (book in SR's name if you don't have military ID), Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express. Navy Lodge is about a mile from RTC; the other 4 or close together 4-5 miles away (10 mins). Close to the MeetandGreet that Sarge has for you the night before PIR. Call these last 4 directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount. Navy Lodge is already cheap. Nice staff there, simple furnishings but comfortable!

We suggest that all go to TripAdvisor.com and put in hotels you like to check out reviews before booking.

Comment by Sweetsunshine on May 20, 2015 at 9:21am: I am also wondering about liberty time as my SR will be flying out for A School after PIR. From everything I have been reading, since PIR was moved to Thursday, they will most likely be flying out on Friday 7/3. Our SRs will know at PIR what their flight days and times are. I agree with diannep that they will likely not fly on 7/4 so that is why they most likely will fly out on Friday. So we will really have to make the most of our time immediately after PIR. It looks like we get them about 10:30 am until probably about 8:00 pm on Thursday 7/2. They will have to back at base by 8:00 pm that same day most likely.

Now I feel much better knowing "No news is good news", my son is realizing his dream, I have to be grateful for that. Meanwhile, you can watch the videos from prior graduations, pictures in facebook (US Recruit Training Command) they post pictures of the recruits. Check and see if you can find your son. I haven't seen mine yet. I try to find him in every face of every picture. There's a lot of good information in this page you can also check. You can also start making arragements for PIR. That will help! I hope my words help, and excuse my english!! See you soon!

I just had to share that yesterday and today has been really tough for me. When my SR left for BC May 5th, I was being strong for them and didn't shed a tear. I went home and thought I would cry then but, still nothing in which I thought something was wrong with me because I hadn't shown my emotional side. Now, I am full of tears and the emotions are high I just want to cry, cry, cry, cry, cry... Is this normal? I am trying to be strong for my SR as I know they are enduring much more than I am at this time. All I want to do is hear their voice to know that they are doing ok, I know that no news is good news but, I need to hear my SRs voice. Here's to hoping the day/week gets better.
