~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

It's a comfort to know so many other mothers are going through this too. I was starting to think I was going a little crazy, worrying so much when I know he's safe. I just feel like I should be supporting him and don't quite know how without being able to contact him. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone.

I haven't gotten my letter yet, and sadly my daughter chose to send her "box" to her "guy friend" and not me.  I heard from the recruiter that she is on ship 12, DIV 247.  No form letter yet tho.

Thank you diannep, sometimes the anxiety starts to take over after 19 years of knowing where my child was and what he was upto it's a little overwhelming to have to let go. I know him well and he has always made good choices just a little tough on me. Thanks

Nigelsmom:  The form letter can take a while for some to receive.  Hang in there...it should come soon.  The letter comes separately from the box.  The recruiter may have a mailing address for your SR....if you decide to write to this one, be sure to check it with the form letter one when that arrives....sometimes there are changes, but the form letter one will be the correct one.  Sometimes the recruiter's address/form letter address are the same.

Earl's Mom - You're in the right PIR GROUP. :-)

The 900's are a "specialized" division in that they have some extra duties while in PIR. They are what we call the Performance Divisions. There is usually one for each PIR. Sometimes there are two or even three (when RTC skips a week or two of PIR  and has to double-up). On occasion we have had a PIR with no 900 Division.

They are the Drill, Ship Staff, Flags, Choir and Rifle team. "900" is what they always have for their Division number. The actual 900 number corresponds with the TG (Training Group) number. This TG is TG 34 and so the 900 Division is 934

At the beginning of every Fiscal year (October 1 for the military) all of the Divisions start over again with "01"

Regular Divisions - 01

800's SPECOPS - 801

900's - 901

Is any one else's son/daughter in division 934? I don't see any one else's division number so high, but the recruiter told me he was graduating July 3rd.

diannep - Your guess is as good as mine...no wait yours is usually better!(diannep was my PIR momma along with LaLa and Betsy two years ago this month!)

I agree with you about RTC's answer being "standard" for any PIR group. We have seen changes in "fly out" on many non-holiday PIR's. It's just that on the holiday ones...we aer more hopeful for you having the extra Liberty with your Sailors :-)
