~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Navymom_1688 ...If you plan to meet him at the airport before he flies out, you can give him his cell phone then. However, from what I've heard they can NOT bring it back with them to base after graduation. I'm hoping my husband flies out while I'm still in town so that I can give him his as well :) Hope this helps!
Hello, I had a few questions! My son is leaving for A School in SC and he's a Nuke. I was wondering if I could bring his cell phone to the graduation so that he could bring it to A School? Are they allowed cell phones at A School or could i just ship it to him then? Also, could what could they bring with them after PIR to A School?
Thanks a bunch!
Question about a graduation gift.... Since we don't know where they will be posted per se..(ship/base etc) and my son LOVES electronics... is there a type of tablet / reader / laptop that would be appropriate? He is hoping for shipboard duty, so would ANY of these be worth it considering the need for WiFi for most connections? Just starting to look for a gift.
Hi All!!
"Who are those who fear the Lord?
He will show them the path they should choose."
Psalm 25:12
hang in there therevbev, I hope he gets to call again soon. Keep that cell with you at all times :)
I missed the call from my SR on Sat. Heard the voicemail - doing fine. But today I checked my cell about something and saw that he had also tried THAT number and I STILL missed it! How bad is that! Now I remember WHY I hate Boot camp so much. Can't wait til there's REGULAR communication.
Diannep, these small groups are also really quiet on Facebook. I like the bigger groups with lots of excitement but also love the small groups and love helping everyone I can get through this journey :) At this same time last year we had had about 40+ more divisions go through boot camp than we have this year. The cutbacks are really showing.
Good morning :)
I made it to CA Sunday night My first flight was amazing, I loved every minute of it and stared out the window almost the whole entire time. It was so so cool. Here are a couple things I wrote in my journal lol.... I've seen it in pictures but it's just not the same as looking at earth from the view of a plane..... There are circles and squares and lumpy terrain but I haven't a clue and there's no one to explain.....471 miles per hour feels like turtle speed. What -48 degrees? It's cool that you can follow the path of the flight and see so much info. I wish it would tell you what is below like the mountain ranges, deserts etc :) I can tell you this, the time change is kicking my butt lol. Here is one of the pics I took..... Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high.....
Glad I could help, charlotteh!
