Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Anybody get a call? So far only one short note for me.....
For those of you who can head to PIR earlier in the week. Naval Station Great lakes has a 2 day Festival for 4th of July. Here is the link.

Last year PIR was help outside for this holiday. Haven't heard anything about this year yet.
Still no address after three weeks so we called the recruiter and was told my son is in DIV 815 (along with the rest of his full address), so here I am in this group to wait it out with all of you. We had a stack of out outgoing letters waiting for an address so they will be at the post office at the airport tonight...not going to wait for the postman to pick them up tomorrow. It's comforting to know there are other parents in this group whose sons are my son's new buddies. They are the finest young men I could ever hope my son to share this incredible experience with. Can't wait to see his handwriting again, we've never been out of touch before, not for a day.
NavyDadBill I totally get it about never being out of touch. We haven't gotten a letter yet but some families have. Did you get his PIR date?
NavyDadBill glad you found us. Also glad you have an address, finally.
cokey we stayed at the Residence Inn-Waukegan. It was nice and they have 2 shuttles, one earlier than the other, that take you right to the doors.
We are staying at the Ramada. They also have a shuttle.
The Navy Lodge is also convenient and cheap. Its nothing special, but its clean.
So far the best price we've found is Navy Lodge. Our family and my son's fiance will come in Thursday afternoon (07/05), but we don't know how long we should stay. Does anyone know if we'll get to see our DIV 815 guys on Saturday too? We hope to get there in time to meet some of you on Thursday at Sarge's meet and greet. We're all so excited already we can hardly wait.
