Any other mom's out there for this Ship?  My daughter Maricella (San Antonio, TX) is currently housed here and I'm looking for other mom's to share information.  So looking forward to Friday, July 13!

That's weird.  Did she say why?  The gas chamber (or Confidence Chamber) is one of the main things at boot camp.  I can't imagine not having to do it, much less a whole division not having to do it.  I would be interested to find out the reason.

Because they were under black flag conditions.  Heat index was about 110.

Now that makes sense.  Dang.  Maybe they'll be able to make it up this week or next.  It really was the funniest part of bootcamp for me :)

:)B we were sooo relieved when we heard, I was so nervous as I know my SR was a bit terrified at the thought...You're one tough cookie to laugh in the face of danger! :)

Oh believe me, I was scared going into it.  It wasn't until after that I laughed because it really wasn't that bad.  I literally walked out of their going, "I got all worked up over nothing!"  This was the only thing I actually dreaded before going to bootcamp.

The point of the Confidence Chamber is to show the recruits that their equipment can save them, or in other words, give them confidence in the equipment.

You go in with your masked on, they light a little pellet that starts the fumes building up in the room.  And row by row, you take of your mask, and one by one you say your name, or some other thing and then file out.  But immediately upon taking off your mask, your mucous membranes go into full effect!!! Your eyes start watering, your mouth starts watering, your nose starts running.  So on the way out of the chamber there are tons of sinks and they are telling to spit.  And as you proceed further outdoors, you are supposed for flap your arms like an idiot :)

So as you can imagine, this is a pretty funny sight to see.  A bunch of SRs coughing, spitting, and flapping their arms!

And while you are inside the chamber, your RDCs are usually on the other side of the window laughing at the whole group!  To me, it was the funniest day of bootcamp.

My daughter wrote and told me the same thing.  She said she really was a little disappointed because she'd heard so much about it that she wanted to experience it and see for herself what it was all about.  Well, it's Friday morning or noon time rather and no call yet.  I can't wait!

Happy friday to all of you today as you anticipate those calls!  Do not worry if it starts getting later and you haven't heard.  They have stuff to do before making calls, some may have watch duty, and they also have to schedule their time in the phone bank around other divisions as well.

Just enjoy the heck out of today and start your countdown to next Friday!  I'm so happy for all of you :)
