Hello!  it was suggested that i start a discussion for this DIV to see if any other Moms out there with their daughters with mine!  She left on 5/21 from Ohio and we have received her box of things and nothing else, but I am told that no news is good news!  Hope to hear from others soon!

Hello! I am not a mom but I do have a sailor in the same division as your SR. Your post was the first I came across with DIV 218. What I can tell you is my sailor arrived at boot camp on May 16th and I received the box on May 21st. I got the form letter today which was a week later, so your letter should be coming soon!

Hello, I did get my letter just this afternoon, and you are right even though it is not really a letter from them it still was nice to see their handwriting!  I can hardly wait until 7/13 to see her!  We made our reservations and will be driving up it is about 6hrs for us.  She is supposed to go to A school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, i just hope that she doesnt leave until Saturday night or Sunday so that we can see her.  Where is your SR going to go after?

My SR is going to stay in great lakes for A school. So hopefully we will get the weekend to spend time together. We are either going to drive or take the train. Its about a ten hour drive. I don't care so much how I get there so long as I do..lol..I hope you get some time before your daughter leaves to spend some time together. How long will she be in A school. My SR has 5 weeks then hopefully home for 2 before permanent duty station.

i believe that she will be in Texas for 14 weeks, she is going to become a Navy Seabee, She then will be back home as she is a reservist and will be going back to Kent State next winter to finish her Nursing school then has plans to move into full active duty as a Navy Nurse.  Her brother is in the DEP at the same recruiter as her and is scheduled to leave 8/1 then he was given the job as a machineist mate on a submarine.  so i will get one back a couple months after the other leaves!

Hello there!

I'm not a mom either but my boyfriend is in this division. He left on May 15th from Miami, FL.

It was so great to finally get something from him today! I hope to receive some letters at the end

of this week. I can't wait for July 13th!! :)

i know how you feel. I can not wait for a letter. I even checked the post mark on my form letter just to see how long it took to arrive!

I should have done that! lol The form letter is at his mom's house though..How long did it take to arrive?

I thought his handwriting was so interesting, it's completely different!

The form letter really cheered me up, I was starting to feel really down today.

I have had a lot of bad days! But that letter really turned them around. The form letter was post marked may 25th and i got it today. i live in Maryland so that wasn't too bad! I just hope they got to send some letters out today and we will have them by the end of the week!

Same here! I'm really hoping for a letter at the end of this week. I'm so excited, I can't stand it.

This website is so great, it's so nice to share with people going through the same thing.

I'm surprised at how much the form letter changed my mood completely. I went from being really sad, to being super optimistic and giggy :).

Stay strong! :P

Hi, I hope I'm in the right place. :-)  My daughter's address came via message from her dad on facebook and I'm checking around because I think it's wrong. He gave me SHIP 30 DIV 218 and I don't think there is a ship 30. I've been told to check with the recruiter, but the recruiter is in Florida, close to where her dad lives and I'm in Arkansas. Sooo... I'll try to be patient as I wait on an e-mail reply from the recruiting command or I may just have to look up the recruiter's phone # in Florida. I know she won't have much time to write and I just want to send her some words of encouragement to help her get thru boot camp. Well, thanks to any & all who read all of my rant. I'm trying to not be frustrated.

You could check with her recruiter just to be on the safe side but division 218 is on ship 3. I know when i write it is ship 03 div 218 so maybe he got the 0 and 3 mixed up! I hope you get if figured out soon. Its hard not having contact with our loved ones. Best of luck to you!

Thank you. Her dad text me during the night and said it's Ship 3. :-)
