Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 221 and 222

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

SHIP 09 DIV 221

Has anyone recently heard from their child in this division? I have not received a call from my daughter since June 7, 2014 and I'm a little worried.

(post copied and pasted from duplicate discussion)

hi Navymom123,

My daughter is also in SHIP 09 DIV 221 and around the 7th was the last time I heard from her too. I did get a few letter's last Thursday but they were written before the last call. As Ellen0502 said, no news is good news. Its probably better that all of our SR focus on training so that they do well. Building up that team for the big test at the end. Which A School is your daughter headed to after BC?  Mine is headed to Hospital Corpsman in TX.

Hang in there and keep writing her letter's so she has that to look forward to each day!

Hi Bev,

Thanks so much for responding. As of today, I still have not heard from my daughter via phone or mail since June 7, 2014, but I was still happy to read that you were able to speak to your SR last week. :) I've been sending her letters twice per week to encourage her.

Hi Navymom 123,

I think it was around the 8th or 9th when we last talked to her. She said then that they would not be able to call for a few weeks. I did get a letter from her today saying they were incredibly busy getting ready for battle stations and only had free time on Sunday but just for about an hour. She said they also had to shine boots and get ready for inspection during that time. Sounds like they are pretty exhausted by the end of each day.

She did mention that usually two weeks before PIR they will be told what time thier flight is to thier A SCHOOL. She says everyone is being very supportive of one another and even though there is home sickness they are getting thru it. She said she is looking forward to taking a very long shower at the hotel after PIR.

Which A School is your daughter going to?

Hi Bev,

Hopefully, I'll have a letter waiting in my mailbox today or tomorrow also.

My daughter majored in Computer Science Engineering and completed college in April, right before leaving for bootcamp. She was asked to consider The Nuclear program, but chose Electrical Engineering and computers instead. Her recruiter stated that her "A" school assignment would probably be in or near their current area, so she may not have to fly out to a different location, not sure yet.

I understand how mentally and physically draining BC is to the SR's because my son joined last year. I remember him saying the same as your daughter, that he was looking forward to a longggg hot shower at the hotel after PIR. :)
Bev,

There were letters in the mailbox from her today. Yay!!! I feel so relieved now. She stated the same things as your daughter, explained they are preparing for battle stations, very busy, exhausted, but helping one another and staying focused. :)

Jumanji,

Can't believe we have a little over a week to go!! So exciting :) Now the wait for the 'I'm a Sailor' call these next few days. My daughter said in her last note that they are supposed to get thier mail more often and are able to possibly write more often. Of course that was depending on thier schedule's. She said they are practicing marching and cadence which was allot of fun, especially the cadance songs. We leave here next Tuesday to drive out, stopping in northern NY to visit friends. Thier son just finished BC and is now going thru BUDS/SEAL training. The military world is very familiar to our daughter's so I'm sure they feel very comfortable w all of it. Looking forward t seeing you next week!!!

Navymom123, No news really is good news. It means your SR is moving right along in training. Phone calls are random, and can come at anytime or not at all, except for the three expected (I am here, I am still alive, and I am a SAILOR).

Ellen, Thank you very much for the response. My son called quite a few times during BC, so I wasn't really sure why I hadn't heard from my daughter as much.
Hi Ellen,

I received a letter from her today, stating she missed her phone call because she had been ill (had wisdom teeth pulled) so that's why we hadn't heard from her. Thanks again for the information. :)

Good afternoon ladies!!

Just got a quick 3 minute call from my SR daughter (SHIP 09 DIV 221). She was either helping with uniform inspection or they are each inspecting each other's uniforms. Anyway... she found a hit (her words) on the sleeve of another recruits uniform so her instructor let her call home. She also got two shots today, I guess they are booster's for shots they got when they arrived. She sounded a little down I think but could be because its been almost 3 weeks since we've heard from them.

She did say mail is still getting to them, she got 11 letters at once last week and says it really brighten's up thier days to hear from home. Even more so now that they can't call very often. She said Battle Stations is 10 days away and they are working very hard on getting ready for that. She said they are supposed to get one call home before battle stations so hopefully we'll all get a longer call sometime in the next 10 days.

Hope more of them get to call in days to come. I don't comment allot on here but love to read posts from you all. We've been thru this with her dad but nothing comes close to sending your little girl off to boot camp and the emotion's you feel. God Bless them all and lets pray these next 18 days go swiftly for them.     Bev63
