I went with my son's friend to see Transformers. Nice long escape for the evening. I love to read and usually read a book a week since I retired; but since my son left for boot camp I haven't been able to concentrate enough to read...have to read things over and over. I haven't finished one book in the last 6 weeks. Today was a better day. I'm hoping for a letter tomorrow...that always makes it a good day too.
I'm glad I am not the only one that has lost focus, every thing I try to do I am thinking about what my son is doing.
oh forgot to say...when we went to see Transformers it was at the theatre where my SR has worked for the past two years. So not a total escape...was wierd to be asked by some of the kids i hadn't met "are you....'s mom" because the young lady that I went with is also an employee there. So getting in and out of the theatre was hard but the time at the movie was a good escape. Glad it was an action movie would not have made it through a slower paced movie. 15 more days! WE CAN DO THIS!!!
Dear DavesMOM,
I told my son that he had to write, we even went over what we would write. Sounds silly huh? Well I told him that I would write what was going on here and that's what I wanted to hear from him, anything and everything that was going on with him. I know your heart must be in pain, but hang in there, we are all in this together!!

DAVEMOM2: I did send about three cards to my son in colored envelopes before I read about white being what should be sent. He has not mentioned being in trouble for it. Some Divisions might be more strict than others but I think they may just have to open the card or letter in front of the PO or RDC to make sure there is nothing they aren't allowed in it. I send a card or two a week. They probably hate me at the card shops. If the card I want has a colored envelope I swap it with a white envelope.
My husband and I laughed at something my son said in his last letter. His friend kept asking about care packages and I kept telling her the rules. Well she must have asked him in a letter to him because here is what he said in the letter: Tell......I can get care packages, they just can't have food, candy, gum, meds., anything bulky. We will have to open it in front of them and they are a lot of restrictions. My husband and I looked at each other and started cracking up. We both said at the same time "Sounds like NO care package. What does he think a care package is?" We couldn't imagine what he thought he would still get besides a letter. when I saw his friend last night I asked her what she wanted to send him. It was treats from the movie theatre and fun stuff. I told her what he had said and she said "that's a care package." I asked her to be patient and she could mail one to him at A school in a few weeks.
Terry'saproudmom that's funny. He elimates everything but go ahead and send one away. I hope he doesn't get his hopes up that he will be getting one. My SR has been away from home (college) but I had his younger sisters to deal with. They finally moved out and he moved back in and kinda became a fixuture so now I'm stressing for a second time only worst because of the lack of communication. I can't wait for the next 2 weeks to be over!
It really is the lack of communication that gets to all of us. The not knowing, too! Wanting to hear that they are well and excelling in what they need to accomplish.
My older son moved back home four days after the younger one left for BC. He is studying for the Calif. Bar Exam and even though he is here he is locked in his room studying. Really only see him at dinner. He tells me I need to "get a life" I will AFTER July 22. For now this is it!
