I'm glad everyone is starting to get letters, it made a huge difference in my attitude when i got mine yesterday...i was getting so depressed and grumpy. now this morning when i was at work my cell phone rang, it said 847 area code, i was afraid to answer to get bad news because i knew from his letter yesterday that he wouldn't be able to call for a while still. he said i'm ok mom, i just need to get some more info for my fbi clearance. phew.....i got to talk to him for 12min and 14sec. it was so good to hear his voice. he said ship 12 div 232 has their first inspection tomorrow and their first test on Tuesday -- if they all pass the test they will get 1 hr phone privledge. He said the first week basically sucked, but after that it has been easier since they are getting into their routine. i kept asking him questions and then he finally said I think i gotta go mom...it was awesome.

Thank you FIRETEAMLEADERWIFE!  Where did you get all that info?  I find the Navy Speak box at the right does not answer a lot of the acronyms I find in N4M,s

My son did mention that he makes his NWU's look good. I got my new whites in the mail today. Now I have to sew the stripes on and hem them up. Good thing I love him so much because I haven't put on a uniform since I retired in 2000. Next week we are off to Disneyland to celebrate our daughter's graduation from High School. Something to keep me busy. We are going to the base in San Diego while out there.

NWU-Naval Working Uniform. These are the digital blues-digiblues

NSU-Naval Servic Uniform-the "peanut butters"- black pants, khaki top

Dress whites are the Sailor whites-Dress blues are the same but in blue (seasonal-blue winter and white summer I think)

Workout clothes are the "Smurfs" blue sweats, bluesweat tops-(yellow t-shirts and blue shorts )

Diannep thanks for the information on the ribbons I will check out Lala's page tonight.  I stalked the mailman today, met him half way up the sidewalk to the house.  I told him what I was waiting for and looked through the mail right there in front of him only bills.  No letter :-( my face must have shown my disappointment he said "Sorry, maybe tomorrow."  CARRI our sons are both on ship02-div936 maybe they didn't get the same writting priviledges...but still hoping!  My husband also thinks I'm nuts for not washing because of his scent...even more nuts he says I am totally addicted to N4Ms! He's right!  I bet you are busy with that baby girl.  Not the same thing but I noticed I have been spending more time with our dog Lucy.  She misses "her boy"....he use to take her out when he ran.  My slow walk is not the same for her but better than nothing.  UFQ202: Glad to hear you got a letter, thanks for the update.  I tried to find out in the Navy Speaks box but it didn't know...What are NWU's? Dress whites? Workout clothes?

Stalking the mailman has paid off. Got my first "real" letter. Oh he sounds good but tired. He said he received 13 letters when he got his mail. So happy but wants more. Gonna get after his friends. He sent a separate letter for his sister. Yep they kept those poor kids up for two days. The first night of sleep he had watch and ended up sick. He said his Division 231 is finally starting to work together as a group. He said they are now allowed to wear their NWU's. I am so happy. I hope eveyone gets their letter today.
