No need to respond to this.  Just wanted to get the divisions listed at the top of the page and haven't seen Donna on the group for a while.  Only she can post them to the name of the group....so…Continue

the Navy Lodge is 65 dollars a night and no taxes. Anyone with a recruit can stay there. You just have to list them as your sponser. The weekend is getting closer. I have to go so I can start stalking my mailman. LOL

Terrysproudmom:  Check out Lala's page for pictures of the ribbons.  She makes them and does a great job!  Yes, that is the division number on the ribbon.  She can make the ribbons for all in your family if you like.  Send her a message or comment on her page.  She will get back in touch with you!

lala,  where did you get your ribbons?  Do you make them?  The number on them....is that their division?  Are these ribbons for your kids? If you don't mind sharing I think they are really nice

diannep thanks for the words of encouragement!  I hoping for a letter tomorrow.  I think if they mailed one on Monday it should be here (California) by Thursday, or maybe Friday.  I am retired from the USPS (37 years) and I've never appreciated "snail mail" more now that I'm waiting for some!

For anyone who needs to send a phone card to their recruit you can pick up a 700 min Verizon calling card from Costco for $19.99.  I sent one with him when he left and he told me "Mom, I probably will never use it."  Not only is this guy not a writer...he is not a phone guy either.  He loves to text...so much my husband wondered the other day if his thumbs were going through "texting withdrawal". In the form letter he started his comments with "Please bring my phone, battery & charger they are in 'the box' I sent home." :-)   Made our flight arrangements.  Need to book a room now.  Where are you all staying?

Thanks all, Hope you hear from your SR's tomorrow.
Diannep, I sent him with a 600 minute phone card when he left, just hope he gets to use it.  He said his RDC said they would give them an hour phone privledge if they all passed their first test, but he didn't say when it was.  He said he was writing on either the 4th or 5th, he wasn't sure of the date.  I don't think he has gotten any of the letters i sent yet, cuz i sent June and July's calendar pages with my very first letters that went in the mail on 5/31/11.

My Wednesday came and went without a letter. :-(  But I am in the deep south...so I knew it may take another day...I just want to hear how things are....more than the 3 or 4 sentences on the form letter.

Okay this is a long shot but.... If anyone lives in the Charlotte to Asheville NC or even upstate SC or eastern TN and needs to buy airline tickets to Ohare you may be interested in this. Asheville Airport is offering tickets to Ohare for $90.00 you must fly on Tuesday, Wednesday/ or Sat to get this price and buy your tickets in June, not sure of the exact deadline but this a great deal. Fly up on Wednesday before PIR and come back on Sat for $90 you can't beat that. Especially if your Sailor leaves on Saturday anyway. It was just on the local news here where I live (near Asheville NC) If this would work for anyone let em know and I will help you find the info you need.

Sherblond:  You are allowed to mail him a phone card also if you want to.  Best to get him one with at least 500 minutes on it...they use up alot of them from the payphones just connecting the call.  Glad you got the letter!

Glad you heard from him Sherblond....I am still waiting....thanks for the heads up.

Yay....I got my first letter. I'm so excited...He sounds like he is doing pretty good. A few things that made me laugh...."there are actually people here that are in worse (physical) shape than me, which is really surprising" and "I should be able to get a phone call soon if no one screws up too bad". He ended with "Well I have to finish a lot before 1pm, if I was back home, i would still be asleep".

Can't tell you how much better I feel today just knowing he is hanging in there. Keep your eyes open mom's. My son just left on May 24th and got my first letter today....keep stalking your mailman, he will eventually give it up and give you a letter...lol.
