No need to respond to this. Just wanted to get the divisions listed at the top of the page and haven't seen Donna on the group for a while. Only she can post them to the name of the group....so…Continue

Carol....just checking to see if you got a letter today? I still didn't and was really surprised. I am about 850 miles away, but still...if it was mailed on Monday, I should have gotten it by now. …Continue

Sherblond: Believe me, they LIVE for those letters....so scan piks on a piece of paper, collage-style, and send those (funny ones are greatly appreciated!), send jokes, funny stories, anything to give their minds a rest from the training they are in. We ask that no one passes along any "negative" info. They need lots of encouragement, especially in these early weeks when they are in the "breaking down" process at bc, before the "build back up" process.
So....write LOTS of letters! We don't recommend colored envelopes, stickers on the outside of the envelopes, etc. Plain white envelopes and not-too-thick envelopes will keep them from having to open mail in front of the RDCs. Anything that looks a little out of the norm must be opened in front of the RDCs.
UF: Yes, you are right! However, this site is really to provide info to the ladies on here and to provide support/comfort. It was never intended for those working at RTC.....ahemmmmm.....to read! HA! But I can see where they are curious to find out what the families of their "charges" are like. So we just like to keep things as separate as possible.
The internet surely has made contact easier for the military families, but also exposes more risk for sure. I read last week where one of the Navy ship's FB pages was shut down because the ladies got too "loose lipped' on there, jeopardizing the security of that ship. Very sad, but very necessary for the security of our troops.
For those of you who are/were using an address for your SR given to you by the recruiter, please doublecheck it with the form letter address. Sometimes there is a difference. Don't worry, if there is, your letters will still get there, but it may take longer. The form letter adress is the correct one.
Remember, mail is held from the SRs for 2 weeks after their arrival. They have to get the SR mail PO trained since it is a "federal" job. So they will probably get your letters all at once! Mail is like Christmas morning for them, so write often!
BoosMom: "Push" division means that they have less days to get all done than the other divisions in their PIR group (probably last ones to get their division "filled up"). Don't worry...they get it done!
Just a heads up here. The RDCs (your SRs' bosses!) DO read this site/posts so it is best to try and remain anonymous as far as a connection to your SR. Yes, it is a fun challenge for the RDCs to place you ladies with their SRs and they try hard, but my suggestion is that you not use your SR's name on here---or in your screen name. Last names are prohibited....Navy security policy. First names are allowed but not a good idea.
Also, before posting anything...make sure that it is nothing something that could cause your SR trouble....if you think it might, you may want to private message that info rather than post it publicly. There is a prompt at the top right to "Send Message to Group" or you can private message to any of your "Friends" on this site.
For those of you who have posted your SRs' names already, you may want to think about deleting your post (click on the "x" in the square) and reposting without the name. Also, change screen names if your SR's name is a part of it.
Just a thought! I've been on all of the PIR groups for well over a year now (my son PIRed in early 2010) and I have seen what can happen when SRs are identified with posts on here. Sometimes the RDCs just have a little "fun" with them, but I can assure you....your SRs do NOT want extra attention turned to them!
Hi, everyone. Veteran mom here joining to try and help with any questions. I'm sure that Lala, JessicaBSailor, Betsy and fireteamleaderwife will be along soon as well....all veteran ladies. Please post any questions that you have and we will try to get to them.
Donna, thanks for starting this group! Tomorrow, RTC may have your divisions listed for this PIR group and you can then add them to the title of this group so others can find you more easily.
Welcome, everyone!
