Too funny, LALA!  Would have been quite a problem if she went in as a girl and came out as a MAN!

I agree Jim, except mine went in as a girl and came out a very strong woman :-) lol

Jim again,

I had to respond to something you probably all have had to hear from you SR. Mine has the problem of worrying about things that are not important at this time. Like whats in the news and I really had it made before I made this commitment....lol. Had to tell him to get his head out of his ......and concentrate on the job at hand. sometimes they need tough love not coddling, sorry girls. these are some of the most important life lessons they will learn, and I do mean "LIFE". They will depend on the man to there left and right to be there and to do there job so they can all come home safely. This is as important as life itself. They went in boys and will come out men, so remember they are your babies, but all grown -up.

I don't think anyone will mess with my SR because he will have a HM1 and MAC in their whites with him. If I need to I will wear my combat boots to kick some butt. LOL

I so agree with Lala.  You will find that most in the Great Lakes area will be wonderful to your sailors when you have them out...thanking them for their service.  But in some areas (like the Miami airport...not a good experience for us when my son was leaving to head to duty station).---not so good  Nothing bad said....just total ignorance and "stares."  Concentrate on the positive!

I so totally agree with you, nursememrie!  But we sure want to "feel" like they need us...in some ways...right?  And I think that is true...we are always going to be their "mamas!"

Thanks, Jim, for giving us ladies some military male insight to balance us out a bit!  HA!  We can go a bit overboard at times...

Opened my eyes this morning as I woke up and first thought was:  It's Sunday.  Holiday routine.  They made it through Hell Week!!!!  My, how even *my* thoughts have changed focus in a short 5 wks! lol  I hope our SRs all have a blessed day of rest and regeneration for the coming week!

@Jim, Kathleen's husband...had to laugh at your comment just imagining how the new sailors will probably take it all in stride.  It's their mamas who will have a problem with it!!!  Of course, after all these new sailors will have been through, I'm quite sure they don't need their mamas to protect them anymore.  ;-)

This Is Kathleen's husband Jim. Yes the recruit's graduating will be played with by other sailors in town. This is a right of passage that we all went through. I am a Marine and don't let it get to you. After graduation the new sailors will be tough skinned and the game playing will be nothing to them. Don't worry.....Be happy

Lala Post Office was closing early yesterday in yet another effort to SAVE money.  My office however did remain open, no savings by closing, as I am already working for FREE on Saturday!
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on July 3, 2011 at 8:06am
I tried to mail ribbons out on Friday afternoon. I had no idea the post office would close early on Friday, be closed all days on Saturday and be closed again tomorrow. I think that is more time off than most people get for Christmas. At least they still delivered the mail yesterday even though the office was closed. The PIR ribbons for this group are being shipped this week. Please let me know when you get them and remember if you send me a message on this site and I don't respond that means I didn't get it. The email here is not working like it should. You can email me at uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com   Thanks :-)
