My daughter got married during A-school in Pensacola. She wasn't even in phase 3 yet so she had to be back on base at night and didn't even get to spend the night with her husband until they had been married for almost 2 months. He left for bootcamp 4 days after they got married.

Bringing along a buddy who doesn't have anyone coming to PIR is a great idea. We did that as well. I was amazed at how many sailors didn't have family there to help them celebrate :-(

my SR sent me checks, but i don't think i can use them cause doesn't he have sign them, and my fiance said he dropped 2 min of his run. and he said tht they cant get married on graduation so it will be during his A- school and tht he probably wont be able to change job so he has AECF job in GL. and he wants to get married ASAP and for me to be with him up at his school and he will pay for it

I have already told my son that if he has any buddies who won't have family with them he is to invite them to come with us.  The more the merrier!  I would love to get to know his buddies.

They do not have to have a liberty buddy and you don't sign them out unless that has changed. The sailors who don't have any family there will go on liberty with a buddy from their DIV who also has no family to spend liberty with. I have never heard of any of the new sailors being picked on by anyone. I have heard of several who have had meals paid for by perfect strangers which was very cool and also people walk up to them and thank them for their service. Sadly there are some people who hate the military and will say ugly things but that doesn't happen a lot and hardly ever in the Great Lakes/Chicago area.

On PIR weekend do our Sailors have to leave with a liberty buddy when we pick them up?  Do we have to sign them out?  I heard that our Sailors in uniform will be a target to be picked on in public by other Navy people, is this true?  Not really a big deal, but I'm sure that is the last thing our Sailors want to deal with.

I asked my son when they were doing Battlestations and he said they wouldn't tell them.  He said just about everyone there had been sick. He has been lucky so far and been well. I"m ready to see him!!!!

Got a call from my SR. He is doing good. He was a little upset that his fiancee didn't answer the phone after 3 calls. He is counting the days also.  Hope everyone gets a call this weekend.
