Got another letter today, too.  My eyes have been teared up ever since with thankfulness.  What our SRs are going through is such a test of mental and physical endurance, but they are passing it every day.  My son continues to sound very challenged, but very determined.  He, along with all the SRs, have a goal in sight...a light at the end of the tunnel.  My son is beginning to see it, as I hope the others are, too.  I don't think I can fully express not only how proud I am of him, but how truly appreciative I am to the RDCs and other Navy officers for the sailors they are building.  The sons and daughters we all said goodbye to in late May are no more.  I hear it in his letters, as I'm sure you all do, too.  I pray we are all able to share in the celebration of this on July 22!

My son is Div 234, I don't think we will get a call again until after Battle Station. My son was 5 sec short of the mile of being on time, same here, no jock, but he is doing it! As I am sure your son is! Hooyah!!

Kathleen which division?  I'm hoping for a call this long weekend.

I got my letter today - good news is that he is doing well with inspections and standing watch.  He 5.0's inspections and has had no "hits" on his watch logs and such.  Bad news is he has not passed PFA's.  He said he had only had two and second was much better than first, but still short of mark.  Now he says "hopefully" (OMG) I will see him grad on 7/22!!!!  Ladies I need a little GOOD NEWS!  He has never been a jock - always a brain, but  really need him to pull this out.  Pray for him and me please.

Yep, they all seem to get sick.  Some worse than others.  Lots of germs hanging around there, they are stressed with all that they have to do, and in close quarters.  Plus I'm convinced that all of those shots they are given all at once do not help their immune systems, short-term.  So they are vulnerable.  They survive and get over it!

I am so glad mine is feeling better...but who knows what the next call or letter will be.  Mine has been to medical four times already.  At least we know they are given medical care.  Stay on your knees ladies, keep those candles burning and remember to pray for each other (and there SR's) too!  We're getting there!!!  hoping for my own letter tomorrow or friday but it has been a busy week so maybe I won't get one this week.  SLEEP WELL SR'S AND LOVED ONES!

Yea-they get sick. I heard that 90% of BC is indoors! But it's the Navy so they have to simulate ship life. Right down to the red light that's on all night while they sleep!

Mine got sick, then got pneumonia. He had the same situation as yours Terry, luckily...confined to rack and it was on a weekend so he didn't miss anything.

The RDC came in at one point and called everyone to attention...not wanting to lose his military bearing he "stood" at attention in his rack. The RDC said, "Look at ####### he's at attention in his rack!"

LOL

Pink eye went through in the end but he DIDN'T get that! Everyone was worried about BS because of it but they get the drops going and they work fast.

they must all get it...mine had it but went to medical got meds and the last i heard was feeling much better.  i say on a past PIR one of the mom's wrote that she came home with the "kennel" cough that all the Sailors had.  Guess when you are with that many guys 24/7 they just pass it back and forth.

Sherblond:  Hope your son gets to medical and will feel better.  My son waited too finally went on a Saturday and got meds and two day light limited duty pass.  He just had to stay back in the compartment when others went outside the ship....but no hold back from PIR date.  Hope your boy is already feeling better as I write.
