We are driving from Orlando Fl, looking forward to it!! Anyone else in the Orlando/Daytona area?
Just booked Residence Inn and their cancellation policy is 6 pm on the date of arrival with no charge. I believe they do this as long as you hold your reservation with a credit card.
By the way, we stayed at Residence when up there and enjoyed it! They have studio and 2 bedrm 2 bth suites. Full kitchens.
I advise all to book hotels now....there is a Six Flags Water Park nearby which books up the hotels for the summer. Cancellation policies are usually liberal...I believe you can cancel up to day before or day of arrival if needed with no penalty.
Tamara: YES! Southwest is a great option. Check out their flights into Milwaukee too....shorter drive to GL and probably cheaper prices? No change fee if your SR is setback in training and 2 bags check for free. It is about a 45 min drive to GL from Milwaukee, and hour+ from Midway (depending on traffic).
Hotels can be reserved now with no penalty if you cancel (if you book direct with the hotel). Be sure to call the hotels directly and ask for the Navy Grad rate.
Suggestions from past comments on here:
Navy Lodge, close to base, book in SR's name if you do not have military ID yourself. Good rates....they do not offer a Navy Grad rate....rates are already good. Simple but clean....renovated about a year or so ago...friendly staff.
Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express....all close to each other. 4-5 miles from RTC. Close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR. Ask for the Navy Grad rate at these.
My son is on ship 13 div 225. I'm looking forward to graduation. We live in Florida so it's a long trip. I'm kind of nervous to make travel arrangements. Does anyone have any suggestions? It looks like Southwest flies into Midway. Is that a good option?
My fiance is also on ship 13 div 225. I cant wait for grad day <3
You are welcome, amilynne.
A suggestion for anyone joining any FB groups that seem to be PIR group related. Be careful what info you disclose on there....this is straight from Public Affairs at RTC. Same as on this site, but last names are exposed on FB (not allowed on here). I was told that the SR himself/herself should be the only one disclosing personal info if he/she wants. So please be careful with this....if a group asks for too much info to join over there, please don't. You do not want to compromise your SR in any way.
Good Morning!
Thank you Diannep for the hotel suggestions, I will contact them today.
Hotels suggested by others who have "been there" before you:
Navy Lodge, about a mile from base, good rates, book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID
Courtyard Inn, Springhill Suites, Residence inn, Holiday Inn Express. About 4-5 miles from RTC. Call hotels directly and ask for Navy Grad rate. These are close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held for you the night before PIR.
