diannep so the sailor, may leave right after graduation? I though you had to come back and get them in the afternoon at about 2;30 pm... Can u please let me know

Whether to take the shuttles or to drive is always an issue.  This is an average size PIR group...same size that my son's was.  We took the shuttle.  Remember, Ramada has its own shuttle...free.  But many of the other hotels use the shuttle (taxi) service at their hotel....$3/pp each way, sailor usually returns free with you.  We bypassed the car line and it was wonderful.  It is just a matter of do you want to wait in a car line or zip right in?  Now, for those hotels whose shuttles don't leave until 7 or later, you may want to get up early, get in the car line early, and drive.  I still recommend that you all try and get into PIR Hall between 7 and 7:30 for best seating choices.

Comfortable shoes is a good thing.

By the way, for those who have AAA and AARP discounts, be sure to ask about these rates at the hotel also.  We used our AAA discount at Residence Inn.

Thanks Nicole, will definitly try to be at PIR early if at all possible so far I think the nunber one recomendation from previous mom is to WEAR CONFORTABLE SHOES!!!! due to all the walking.

Paloma/Bonus- The discounts aren't by much. The military discounts. The Ramada was a very nice place. In Waukeegan. The shuttles, honestly, we got in faster with our rental car, our walk was about 2 minutes, and we were in and seated within 15 at my exes graduation. we arrived at 6:30 to the base, and there were 14 divisions i believe.

I don't really know much about the hotels in this area, so I just google them, and read some reviews and finally decided to stay at Ramada, hopefully it will work out for us. Will only be staying from Thursday till Saturday traveling with my two younger daughters and my husband so I was very concerned about a  shuttle or a way to get to PIR and also about finding a good deal and I must say I found everything there.

All the motels in the brochure are supposed to have a Navy discounted rate if you mention you are there for the Navy PIR when you make your reservations.

I'm sorry,  I didn't ask the right question, for hotels how do you get a Navy or military discount rate?  Thank you so much for your help! Still trying to figure all of this out to get to the PIR for our son. And anything that we can do to support him.
