So, I have a question: will they know if they get sent right away after PIR and will they be able to let us know beforehand? I really hope we have at least the weekend. My son is going to Corpsman in Texas for his A school.

Bree- brief hugs and kisses ARE allowed. No excessive PDA. you can hold their arm on the left side of the inner elbow. No holding hands. You can bring all the electronics in a black bag. Solid black backpack(can be purchased at the hex on base after grad) and all electronics are to be put in there. They cannot take them back to base with them if they are to return to base nightly. If they're in a school in great lakes there is a locker rental by the NEX in which their electronics can be stored until they're moved to their barracks across the street. you will have friday asaturday and Sunday unless they're grad n go in which case they will be leaving to their a school and you will have less time. They can have their electronics in the black backpack at the airport in which they can take with them. If there's anything I missed feel free to correct me:) no question is a dumb one bree

This is probably a dumb question, but can the "kids" reconnect ie cell phone, laptop etc after PIR. Should I bring that stuff for him? What else can we bring? After PIR will they have Friday, Saturday and Sunday (I understand nightly curfew), but can we pick him up daily. I also have been told that we should not show any kind of affection while they are in uniform??? What no hugs and kiss?? If that is the rule...then I want a recount!

She should start one lol. I bet it would be huge in no time. I thought you all would want to see this pic posted on facebook an hour ago. In commemoration of Naval Station Great Lakes' 100th anniversary, students, staff, and veterans participated in a "Living 100" on 14 June 2011. This event took place on Ross Field, in front of historic Bldg. 1.

Hello- a special thanks to lemonelephant for the invite!
My son is on Ship-11 Div- 237. I look forward to connecting with others who have loved ones on the same ship.
I got my son's formal letter Sunday. He sounded real good. I really liked the part when he said "I miss you gyes" :)

Lala, my friend from on here, just had a son go into the Army and she had a hard time finding information.  She finally did join their FB site, but it's not as involved as Navy4Moms.

maybe so fireteam :-) I will tell you this, after my experience with N4M's if I ever had another child join a different branch I would probably have to start my own site just like this one for that branch. I would be working double shifts trying to keep up with both lol. I love this site :-)

BoosMom:  They start with an average of 88 SRs in a division, but will lose some of them...and then gain some new ones back (ones who had been asmoed and are now ready for training again in a new PIR group/division).  Seems like the average at PIR is about 65-75 per division.

Missing Jessica on these sites...hope she comes back soon...

Loved your gas/food mixup story fireteamleaderwife.  Yep, I can relate totally...at least you didn't try to EAT the gas!  :-)
