HI everyone and welcome to your PIR group page. I am sure you are all very excited to get on with this journey and for your soon to be Sailors to finish bootcamp and walk through those huge doors at PIR. Like Diannep said I am one of the veteran moms here to help answer questions. My daughter had PIR July 23rd last year. My youngest son will turn 18 on your PIR date and will be joining the Navy as well. If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask that is what we are here for. You can check out my page if you like, I have info there and pics and if you ever have trouble reaching me on this site just send me an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com

Dianne,

By now they are through processing and probably in their divisions.  How soon can we hope for the letter with their ship and division?

Thanks for the good advice, Dianne.  I've changed my screen name and I'll try hard to avoid identifying my daughter by name in posts now.

NavyMom:  Thanks for starting the group!  You may want to download a picture to replace the silouhette pik above.  Just google "Navy Pictures", find one you like, save it, and download it.  Your choice!

Hi!  Veteran mom here joining to answer questions.  Please ask!  Lala, JessicaBSailor, fireteamleaderswife and a few others may be joining soon.  We will try and cover all of your questions.

Please remember...last names are prohibited on this site. Navy security.  Although first names are allowed, we strongly advise you not to use them for your SR.  The RDCs (their bosses!) DO read this site so they will be reading the comments.  Best to not let them connect you with your SR!  So, you may want to change screen names, etc...if you have included your SR's name.  The SRs don't want any more attention focused on them...and we sure don't want to make their bootcamp experience harder than it already is!  I have been on this site for 1.5 yrs (son PIRed in early 2010) and I have seen how sometimes these comments come back to "haunt" your SRs.  So best to try and not give out too much personal info!

This group is to help you all get through this so ask anything you like!  Have a great day!

Actually, I didn't get the box.  We live in the most rural of places (in Oklahoma) and don't have a "physical address" (ie. we live on a street with no name).  The box was sent FedEx, so my daughter sent it to her father who does live in an actual place.  It took some persuading to convince him that he needs to send it to me so I have the stuff for her A-school box.  It arrived yesterday--probably luck of the draw.  Yours will probably come Monday, since FedEx doesn't usually deliver non-priority on Saturday.

Welcome... did you get your box yet?  I haven't.  Just the one call.

Seems like a long time from now.
