~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Dawnrenee:  If they are being discharged, they go to Ship 5 where they are held for processing.  There they have a chance to appeal their discharge, and some do.  Those who do have a long long wait at Bootcamp, sometimes months.  They are entitled to Legal representation.  For those who don't want to fight it, it takes a few weeks to process out.  They turn their uniforms back in and usually wear their Navy sweats back home.

They can be discharged for many different reasons....a medical condition where they didn't get a waiver before entering (many times, a recruiter will say it is not necessary when it really is), a medical condition discovered at Bootcamp, disciplinary, failure to adapt, etc.  If you look up "Ship 5 (formerly 17)" under Groups on here, it is explains it.  But its best for all on here to stay positive that their SRs will do just fine and not "go there" right now!

I have been thinking, the SR that come to BC but have to leave, where do they go?  Are they still enlisted or are they released from that?  Are they put somewhere in like a failure to adjust area at BC?  What would be the deciding factor for them to leave?  Not asking for my SR.  he is doing well, so I guess I haven't heard much in the letters he sends.  but I was just curious.

So horrible, Lala.  Prayers for them.  Hold your granddaughter extra tight when they arrive....

Good Morning All.

Good morning navy family. I am asking for prayers for a Navy family in San Diego. They lost their 11 month old baby girl in a horrible accident on Monday evening when she fell out of a 3rd floor window at their town house. It is hot there and most places do not have AC so windows are often left open. Apartments and town homes are small so beds and cribs are often placed in front of a window. It doesn't take much at all for a child to fall against a screen and then fall out the window. If you have family or friends who live off the ground floor and keep their windows open please let them know how dangerous this can be.This was a very sad and preventable accident. My heart breaks for this little angels family :( Thanks so much for your prayers for the Ramirez family <3

Yes, kellydc. They will forward the mail.  Many times, a division changes ships...usually the original ship will be undergoing maintenance.  Until you get a new address, keep writing to the old one.  The division number is the most important part for them to find your SR.

My daughter just got a letter from her boyfriend/SR. He mentioned that his division is not coming together that good and they brought in extra RDC's and are moving ships over the July 4th weekend. He also mentioned that his address is going to change. Will his mail get forwarded until we get his new address? My daughter writes EVERY SINGLE DAY and knows her SR looks forward to her mail and pictures.  Any input would be greatly appreciated! :)
