OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning everyone, hitting the road this morning with the rental truck and heading back home to the mountains. This was the quickest trip to the beach ever and the hotel had feather pillows. UGGGG I can't breathe lol

I realized I did  not properly introduce myself to all of you :) I am Lala, one of the volunteers for the PIR groups here to help you get through the boot camp experience. My daughter graduated boot camp July 23, 2010 and just finished her 4 years and is now out of the Navy. She is still living the Navy life since her husband reenlisted for 4 more years and is based at Coronado CA (way too far from home in NC) She will be going back to school to finish her degree in physical therapy/sports medicine very soon. I have been helping on this site since her PIR and I am also an admin in the facebook PIR groups. I am happy to help you all in any way I can. If you need anything or have any questions let me or another veteran mom here know and feel free to send me a friend request. The time in boot camp will pass much more quickly than you think and before long you will be there waiting for those big doors to open. We are so happy you found us, groups like this one and facebook will make this journey much easier :)

Bandmom:  Yep, close quarters and I believe that their bodies being bombarded with vaccinations when they arrive make them move vulnerable temporarily too....to germs, etc....compromising their immune systems.  They get through the sicknesses!  Hope he feels better soon!

Comment by Bandmom on June 27, 2014 at 6:46pm

Got a call last night from my son, he said a lot of the recruits were sick including him with a bad head cold but they were given meds and most are getting better.  I guess that happens when you get a bunch of folks in close quarters.  He sounded good and said training is getting better and that some thing were really cool so I think he is doing OK.   Anyone in the 938 div band they may be preforming in the 18th and 25th PIR so you should be able to get a glimpse of them.

I got my daughter's last phone call from BC Wednesday. She sounded a lot better than the last two calls. Her ship is moving to a new ship. She's now on SHIP 12 USS TRITON DIV 231. Im making my planes now. Can't wait to see how much she has grown. #PROUDNAVYMOMMA

Well I just finished watching PIR!!!! Once again, AWESTRUCK how all the new sailors looked. Can't wait until we are ALL there watching our sons and daughters become sailors in the world's most AWESOME Navy!!!! HOOYAH!!!!

Sadly, my son's handwriting reverted back to his chicken scratch after Bootcamp.  And....he got in trouble while on watch because they couldn't read it!  Sigh.....some things never change!  But he is a fast typer!  :-)

Could be, Deb!  Just don't worry....there are push divisions in every PIR group and they always PIR on time (although individuals can be delayed, the divisions finish!).

Good Morning!
