~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

proudnavymom90 - Normally, pick up time is 6-7 AM. They could be told in advance or on a day by day basis.
Liberty expires at 2200 hours (10 PM) BUT you will want to get them back at least a half hour early (maybe more) as there will be traffic and they have to walk back to their barracks. On time is late in the military.
NOTE: Those are approximate normal times...as with everything this could change...at any time. When they are on GL NSTC (Naval Service Training Command) they are back in "Ships" again and each has it's own policies.
Make your plans though for the best scenario though and prepare to be flexible!
You will need to sign your Sailor Out/In on Saturday and Sunday (as you are their "Liberty Buddy"). Friday PIR day the policy is that you DO NOT need to sign them out or in (again, this could change-no biggie)

Hope the BBQ works out for you!
It was winter for my Sailor daughter's PIR and I also wore jeans, a nice sweater, comfortable leather shoes, and a big heavy jacket with scarf!! :)
proudnavymom90,
I think I've seen somewhere where the Sailors that have A school at Great Lakes get to have time from 8:00 am - 10:00 pm on liberty for both Saturday and Sunday. Remember, your Sailor MUST NOT be late getting back to base in the evening, so get them back in plenty of time to walk to their barracks!!
I would say that an afternoon BBQ about 3:00 pm would be a safe bet--make sure there's lots of shade and if there is a pool available, your Sailor must bring his Navy issued swim attire~~
Dawnrenee35 - They do not have an actual dress code for PIR. Most will suggest business casual...nice church clothes.
Me, I wear jeans to Church so there ya go!
I wore my nice new jeans and a red blouse. His brothers wore jeans and red shirts. Sons PIR was in May so they were in Dress whites as all of your new Sailors will be. So we were Red, White and Blue.
Think about your family and your Recruit/Future Sailor and what you think will fit for you.
If your SR is staying in great lakes, does anyone know when on Sat and Sun you will get to see them?, I would like to plan a bar B-Q with family since I am originally from Chicago I have family that want to get together and I am not sure what time to plan things.
well I am glad to see another PIR has been posted. that means we aint on the bottom NO more!!
Good Morning!

in my service to God."

Keep up the great work, Lala! So proud of you! I love my 4-5 miles of walks (also with dogs) a day! Especially my 2 mile one watching the sun rise in the morning....and then again as it sets at night! Beautiful!l!
Good morning Navy Family, I just got back from my daily walk. I am walking a little over a mile a day now in the National Forest near where I live. Also, teaching my sailor's dog to heel and she is doing great. This is huge for me since I tore my meniscus tendon in my left knee back in December and I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot. I have been trying to eat and get healthy for 15 months and have lost 64 pounds :) Go Me!!! lol I even have a Healthy Living facebook group where Navy moms on this same journey support each other. If you would like to join us and get healthy here is the link. I hope you all have a fantastic day :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/162370573912854/
