OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My SR is in ship 11 DIV 235. SR is my S/O. Has anyone gotten letters from this DIV yet?

Momma jo:  They meet with a classifier while at Bootcamp.  Sometimes, the job they selected initially is now "overmanned" and they must select another one.  It is possible that maybe they can change their mind on a job also and select another.  I believe the testing they do will determine which jobs they are qualified for, so sounds like your SR is testing for this reason.

We heard from our son and he is doing very well, he is third in command in his div. He said he has been given an opportunity to apply for a different job and will be testing today. How does this process work?

I spoke with my son. He is doing well. He got his wisdom teeth removed on Friday. He asked me to write to him. I miss him and I know his decision to join the Navy was the right one.

Pre stamped post cards work too. I add 2 to every letter I send it doesn't change the postage :)
Comment by OKst8Mom on June 22, 2014 at 10:11pm
Knowing that my SR will probably not have enough time to write back everyone who sends him a card or letter, I wrote a short form letter that he can put in a name, sign and stick in an envelope to mail. I can put two per letter sized piece of paper. Since I write every day and usually write a page or so, I thought I'd get the most bang for my postage by putting 1-2 sheets in with each letter I send so that by Sunday, he could quickly get several ready and drop them in the mail.

My plan is to change it every couple of weeks to include what he puts in his letters to me or info that's on some of the websites. If you'd like me to send you this Word document, just send me a message

Deanna:  Write him and tell him to hang in there....it gets much better by about the 4th training week...the first part of Bootcamp is hard, but especially emotionally....lots of screaming at them, homesickness going on.  It does get better!
