~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

No problem, shirlg.  They update their lists about a week before PIR and that is the list they use.   Just make sure to write to your SR before then to verify who will be on the list.

proudnavymom90,

Your SR should know where his A school is already.  Just write and ask him.  But yea, if he has A school at Great Lakes, you will have later Friday afternoon to the night (they move over from RTC to the A school side after having about 30 minutes with family and you come back to pick them up), then all day Saturday and Sunday.  They have to return to RTC each night~~

mines wisdom teeth are out. there is a mom on here with a son that is with my husband and she has not gotten a call so that makes me feel better!:)))

When they pull the wisdom teeth (very common at Bootcamp), they get SIQ (which means, Sick in Quarters)....basically, they get to rest in their "racks" (beds).  They won't miss training....so no worries.  They catch them up on anything they miss.  But it is true if they are SIQ, they usually do not get to make the division phone calls.

proudnavymom:  Yes, those with sailors staying in GL for A School have Friday after PIR (after they move over to A School base, which takes 3-4 hrs), Saturday, and Sunday Liberty....they must return to the A School base each night though.  But that is lots of time with your new sailor!  Those flying out most likely will only have Friday after PIR with their families, since most will be bussed to the airports late Fri night/early Sat. morning to wait for flights.  The good news is that family members can meet them at the airports, get an airlines gate pass (with ID), and wait until departure.  You can also trade off personal items to your sailors there.  The GL A School sailors will be able to return to that base after Liberty with personal items.
