Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks so much everyone. Mommy and baby are still doing great :) My mom has pneumonia and is still in ICU but my hubby says she looks much better this evening and I was able to talk to her on the phone. We sent lots of pics of the new baby to her and she is loving them :)

I got a letter from my SR! Only my second letter, My nudge worked lol. I sent a self addressed stamped envelope as a hint that I'd like to hear from him. He said firefighting was his favorite part of week 5. He also said that he's tired and ready for PIR but that he's so much stronger than he was. He lost some weight and put on muscle. He said the RDC's aren't as hard on them now. He got to look at his orders and he's excited about A school.
I can't wait to see him in a week! The last few days have been all highs and lows for me. I find myself crying at the drop of a hat. I'm bouncing between self pity because I miss him and pride at the young man he's become and joy that this is almost over and I'll be able to communicate with him more. to be able to email, text or skype will be great. My SR is a true child of technology. Pencils have never been his friend but it was not unusual for him to text me 15 times a day when he wasn't in school. I was always telling him he'd have twitchy fingers in bootcamp. I think he'll do great as an ET.
