OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I sure would like to be able to recognize all of you wonderful ladies at either the meet and greet or at PIR.  Any suggestions on what we can do besides name tags with our screen names?  Someone earlier said they were making pins of some sort.  I need to look back and see who posted it.  Any suggestions?

Ok my SR says to try to mail contacts at least by 7/22 and he said to mark what they are.  One set of Contacts plus a small bottle of solution he said.

Got a letter from my SR as well... dated 7/7. He confirmed that Ship 12 Div 279 is now Ship 11, Div 279.

Says this week was going to be Hell Week, and that the academic test originally scheduled for this past Monday (the 8th) was moved to this Friday (tomorrow) because of the holiday.  I'm getting so excited! 3 weeks from today, I'll be at Sarges M&G!

Beachmom:  Friend request taysproudmom by clicking on her screen name which takes you to her page.  You will see "Add a Friend" on the left.  Click on that.  That will send her a friend request.  Once she accepts, you will see her picture under your "Friends" list on the left.  Click on it....takes you to her page.  Then click on "Send a Message" on the left and you can email her.

Received 2 letters from my son today!  He said he is fine and said boot camp feels like home now.  He has made several good friends, not sure if I can say their last names or not on here, but would love to connect with their mom's if they are on this site. He talked about his friends in his letters.  His division is doing well!  Such a wonderful feeling to know he is doing ok!
