OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning All !

I'll take a few names as well.  I write to my SR daily and would love to write to those not receiving mail.

Today is our 5th Friday!!

I also asked my SR for those in his division he thinks could use some encouragement as well. He's probably sharing my zany letters with some as we speak! I'm a nut and write to him about everything and anything. I've sent him lyrics to music. Some he knows. Some he doesn't. I write to him about life and random stuff. I have not been telling him negative stuff. I DID tell him I bought my plane tickets. That in itself will be the highlight of his week!

I will have a room at Residence Inn so I told him he could bring along a few of his new friends to hang out with us if they had no one going to be there for them. It will have a kitchen in it so I can cook! And I can promise you that I will be! ha ha ha ha

I have a few of my SR's friends surprising him there. A few from here. And one he has known there in Chicago for 3 years online? But never met. ;)

If there are any other SR's there you think could use some encouragement? Give me more names! I will send out some notes! :)

This is an awesome effort by you! I think we should just keep it going for future SR's in every unit in the future! :)
