OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I just experienced my first Navy disappointment and mishandling, and they were not nice about the mistake they made, badly handled. Luckily I'm a pretty smart chickie and I know how to handle rude folks, traveling to see my SR graduate, no rain or rudeness is going to take my smile! Be safe everyone!!!

Safe travel today for those heading to GL.  Enjoy the MeetandGreets tonight and be EARLY to PIR tomorrow!  Sarge will have some "hints" at his MeetandGreet for those driving to RTC.

Enjoy!  And....Good Morning!  :-)

Your Navy journey continues!!  Check back here as this will become an alumni group where you can keep connected to the friends here whose Sailors all graduated the same day.  Also, you can join A school groups, C school groups, rating (job) groups, state groups, regional groups, base groups, ship groups, and the Christian Chat that I am a member of!!

We're going to be on our way soon. Hope we get the call when we are still on the ground. I don't know anything about flying and cell phones. Happy phone calls everyone...hope to meet everyone at Meet 'n Greet.

Good Morning Ladies we're so very excited. Getting ready to leave home to head to the San Francisco airport. I think it's call day today but we will be on the road. I so hope to get a phone call before we get on the plane. I'm so excited that we will all get to meet tomorrow evening.  See everyone there. Have a safe trip.
