~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Chantilly: Text/call Sarge at 847 212 0246
He will be tied of with PIR today, so may not answer right away, but you may want to text him about how many he can take.
Your sailor probably will be flying out of Midway, but no guarantee. We have heard the Pensacola/San Antonio sailors have been flying out of that one. Sarge can take you to the airport to visit with your sailor too. You will have plenty of time to book with him. He even has a "sign up" sheet at his MeetandGreet.
I finally booked my flight. I should have done it 3 days ago when the Southwest wanna get away fare was 80 dollars cheaper, but I wanted to wait. I finally called the airline just now and found out there were only 5 seats left on the flight I want to be on, so I felt I had to book today. Is anyone arriving at Midway airport anytime close to when I am which is 12:30 in afternoon on Thursday, Aug 1st? There are 3 of us and we aren't renting a car. We are staying at Ramada Inn. I am trying to figure out if I should book a shuttle? How many people can Sarge take at a time? Also, I will be leaving Sat Aug 3rd from Midway at 6:35 pm, but I don't know if I should book return shuttle yet because I may want to sit with my son as he waits for his flight on Sat if he leaves then for San Antonio Texas A School and I don't know which airport he might even fly out of. Advice please. Should I book a shuttle?
cindilouwho65--that is wonderful!! I am so excited that you got a nice letter from your son. It sounds like he is just where he needs to be and is doing great!!
I know we would be proud to adopt a sailor as well, but we will not have the space in our vehicle. :(
Livestreaming of today's PIR ceremony going on right now for those who want to take a peek!
I got a letter from my son! He wrote more than one line that I suspected he would, too! He wrote a WHOLE PAGE! He says "his uniform is amazing! and he never thought he'd ever wear one...but look! He is!". He's just so proud!! He says it's not as difficult as he thought it would be there.
He's proud....I'm proud! I'm just tickled he wrote more than one line. Albeit it was written the 16th and I just got it? I'm sure he has plenty more to say cause he told me to ask questions in my letters. OK son......plenty of questions in the first 15 letters I sent out...we won't mention how many other letters with questions you'll get from everyone else in our family and all your friends. lol
Just love that boy! I exhaled today.
Laura: So sorry that he seemed so down, but so very common this early in Bootcamp...it was aggravated for him because he missed hearing your voice! But it will get better for him as time goes on. This group will be in the "breaking down " process for a while....it is tough...they may feel they can do nothing right at times...but once it is over (about training week 4, which is about bootcamp week 5 or 6), they start taking off and you will be able to "see" the change in attitude. Just a necessary process for them to go through...but hard for a mama's heart! :-) Great that you are "focusing on the prize" at the end of all of this...and I hope he can too!
I echo JoeR's mom & beachmom's sentiments. My family would be honored to "adopt" a sailor. I asked my son to let me know if there were any sailors who had no family attending PIR or needed letters of encouragement.
So glad to hear that letters are starting to come in now. Woohoo!
