Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

KimmyWsmith. My son is in same division and his call was short. He sounded okay, but a little stressed and homesick. It sounded like some of what he said might have been scripted, not sure.

Doglady we are staying at Ramada in for 75 per night. It is 3.5 miles from the base. Don't stay too far from base because you might hit traffic. Ramada has indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub, restaurant and bar. I am hearing from people our kids might want to just eat and sleep while on liberty. I didn't book my flight yet because cheapest is 600 round trip and I am trying to find better prices somehow.

I only got to talk to my sailor for 3-5 minutes. It seems like everyone else got longer calls. :( Christian is in Ship 13 Division 282.

Chstevens: They may be told by their RDCs that they can call again on ____ but rarely does that happen. They lose calls, earn calls, don't have time for calls, etc. So best to have no expectations.

Did any of the SR you talked to today mention the next time they may be able to call?
Still very upset about missing his call.. He left me two vm's. I just wasn't expecting them to be able to call until next week. :(

Yeehaw! In Costco this morning with hubby and my phone rang. When I saw Illinois I got so excited! I answered calmly and heard, "hi Mom!" I have been on cloud nine all day! He first asked if everyone was there, so we could talk on speaker phone, but his sisters had stayed home. :( Hubby and I got out of the way in as quiet a place as we could and talked to him on speaker phone for about 30 minutes. Since I had to be at work in an hour after that, we started our shopping up again. I talked to him another 5 minutes, then hubby did, and then Dennis had to go. He sounds so upbeat and enjoying himself so far. He talks differently, using the Navy lingo. So awesome in every way! He was bummed not to be able to talk to his sisters, sent his love and asked about the pets (dog & 2 cats). Life is good!

We didn't get a call... I'm pretty bummed... I even asked the manager on duty tonight that if my SR were to call if I could step out for a few... but it's almost 10pm for them...
Did anyone get a call that has SRs in ship 02? I'm wondering if maybe they didn't get to?
