N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@Catmom-

Fortunately for me for my Sr's sake? I DO have the next two Saturday's off! Unfortunately for me though? It's less of a paycheck! I'm glad and relieved on one hand. But on the other? I hate my job. Low man on totem pole. Love the company. But, I'm miserable at the moment. :/

I'm sure he was just as disappointed as I was. Cause he said in his voice mail "I'm trying to get a hold of you and it's not really working? I'll call the other phone and see if someone answers". AND low and behold? His sister did! (Us mom's kinda know our kids. He wanted to suspend the line since he wouldn't be using it while he was gone...I decided not to! See??) My daughter said he was so talkative. More talkative than when he was at home. He couldn't repeat enough how much he loved us. (big prideful tears!)

At this stage of things it should be pretty clear that for that boy? I'd give up my weekend schedules at work for the opportunity to talk to him. On the upside though?

He'll have a whole stack of letters coming his way. I sent out five envelopes. Plus I stopped by his old job and gave the go ahead for them to mail away. His girlfriend just sent out a letter. His mentor and friend just called me today asking if I had heard from him. And he's sending a note. His sisters are sending letters.

I think he knows he's most loved son. :)

Cindilouwho65 I'm sorry you missed his call, you will catch the next one, plus he left you a voicemail, you can hear his voice often :) (((Hugs))) he's going to live all the letters!

Got the call today.  For me, it was very difficult to understand what he was saying, he kept breaking up.  I think he sounded a little down, but from reading postings on this site, I guess a lot of them are.  I kept the call very upbeat and he sounded a bit happier at the end of the call.  I got the form letter last week while I was home, but now I'm out of town until the end of June and I'm without the letter. So many of you have already made your arrangements and one post commented to hurry as things were filling up.  Not sure where to stay??????  How do we make arrangements with Sarge?  I'd like to sign up for his meet/greet and transportation services.  Can someone make some recommendations - I feel lost without the form letter and pamphlet and don't want to get left out because I was too late  : (

taysproudmom is so right.  Usually the first calls are very sad and hard.  They get better!

I'm so bummed. :( I waited the early morning hours for son to call. I had to work today. I was already pretty blue to begin with. So I make sure his phone is on so his sister can answer the call if he calls his phone.

Wouldn't you know it? They gave me my break late and I missed his call by 20 minutes. I broke down crying on the spot! In the breakroom in front of everyone. So I walk away and go call my voice mail. He left a voice mail. :) I called his sister at home whom I KNOW would answer the phone. She did. He misses home. He's adjusting to life there for now. He has a uniform with his name on it. :D He said he loves and misses us THREE times. Made his sister cry. He asked if I was at work. She told him yes. He asked how I was holding up. She lied to him said I was fine (we don't want him to know I'm a wreck). I know he doesn't believe her because he asked her twice. She says instead Mom sent you whole schlew of letters!! I mean a WHOLE bunch!! He said COOL!!

I listen to his voice mail over and over. I love that boy just so much!! I think he knows it, too. How could he not? He called me first! (he mustve bought a phone card because he sent his back remember?). Nonetheless, I was bummed the rest of the day at work. I work on the front end and it was obvious I was upset. I just wasn't the same. When asked if I was ok? I said "no,. I missed my Navy son's phone call and I don't know when I will hear from him again?" They asked where he was and I said "Navy recruit command in Great Lakes. Bootcamp". Instantly they consoled me and said "OH we know how you must feel! He'll call again". Some of them have Army and Air Force kids.

He called his girlfriend today too. AND she was at work, too! She texted me to let me know she was bummed. :( She is going with me to his graduation. And we're both counting down the Friday's. She also sent him letters same time I did. So there is no doubt he will have a stack of mail! He'll be happy. Because?

He misses home. He misses us.

*just bummed*

Hello Friends!

Awww, mommas, so sad for those who missed this first call... just a little note for the future that if you will be somewhere where it will be difficult to hear your cell phone, to switch it to silent or vibrate, so you can feel it vibrating against you~~
