~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Well, just as in figured, after finally getting some info from the recruiter, the letter did come today. It was great to see his handwriting again. It was funny to see it written in pencil, though. It reminded me of when I was a kid, writing letters home from camp, lol.

Joe'sRMom-

A ride to the event would be great. But there will be 4 of us if his other sister gets put on the list in place of the sister that cannot attend. (she's going to write to him and ask him).

Thank you for the info DianeP!

I'm going to see if my daughter can get us rooms at Marriott for the family rate. If they are put in my name? I only have to be there for the check in for the guests coming to stay. So, if possible I'm going to ask her if I can get a few rooms at the family rate for those who may want to stay there. I had already decided I was staying at Marriott.

Joe'sRMom we should stay in touch since our sons are in the same division. :) So far it's just us lol

thank you diannep!  Do you know if there is transportation available to take the parents to the airport to see our sailors before they fly out?  Maybe arrange something with Sarge?

Comment by diannep on June 14, 2013 at 9:44pm

Those flying out for A School will most likely leave on Saturday, day after PIR.  You can meet/visit with them at the airports---get a gate pass and wait at gate with them.  They are bussed there in the wee hours of the morning to wait for flights.  You can meet them there and give them phones/laptops.

Beachmom:  OHare is closer to GL than Midway.  Sailors fly out of both of them.  We have heard that those going to Pensacola or San Antonio fly out of Midway, the rest fly out of OHare.  USO staff told one of the moms.  Not sure if that is written in stone though!

The Marriott Hotels (Residence, Courtyard, Springhill Suites) use the local shuttle service....$3/pp each way.  Sarge's shuttle is the same price, but if he picks you up from the airport, he includes his shuttle TO PIR for free.

Guest lists can be updated one to two weeks before PIR by the SRs

cindilouwho65, I completely understand! I am sure the Marriott has shuttle and probably free or really low cost, check into that. I believe he can change names if he does it within enough time.  I booked at the Ramada hotel today not bad at $201 per room for 3 nights (on booking.com), checked on flights and a rental and it's going to be pretty pricey.  Well I have 5 total coming, but 2 will stay and watch the live feed, I plan on renting a mini van, if you and the girls need a ride, let me know!

JoeRsMom- I haven't seen too many others either. I know there has to be others? I'm having a hard time trying to budget for this trip. I only work two part time jobs. That alone covers my bills right now. So I'm stressing out. I promised him.

There will be 3 in our group. His sister was the 4th...but she can't go now (she can't get time off work then?)  He has 6 sisters. The baby of them below him lives with me at home still (15). So one of the other sisters wants to go instead? I'm not sure how switching names (if it can be done?) on the list works??? I told her talk to her brother about that and I'll mention it to him. I was avoiding telling him one sister couldn't make it ya know?

I could probably stay at the Navy hotel on the base )(we have military ID all of us). But, it's 20 bucks more than the Marriott we can get up the road at $45 a night family rate (sister works for Marriott).

We have 7 Fridays to go!!!

Cindilouwho65 I can't wait! I have not seen to many moms on here with the same Ship 04 Div 283.

I booked our rooms today at the Ramada, just need to do flights and rental car, so ready! How many more Fridays?? :)
