OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I have received letters and got the call today. It was so nice! Ship 9 Div 243. He even had time to call his sister, girlfriend and dad. It's amazing how happy everyone here is when we just hear his voice. It will make for a great fourth of july!

Anyone in Div 244 hear anything from their SR?  Calls or letters?  Just curious.

Lala, thanks for the help in trying to figure out what to do regarding pictures!  I appreciate the help so much.  I did check with the photo lab and no, I'm not able to mail a payment prior to PIR.

Happy Fourth!

Good Morning All !

Jakesmom, I think it is a much better idea to send a check to him already made out for the pics. You may be able to mail it to the photo lab. Did you ask them that?

Good morning everyone.

If you live in the New Port Richey/St Pete/Tampa FL areas please send me a message if you would like to attend a Navy Mom Meet and Greet. It will be held in the next two weeks :)

Hey everyone, still counting down to 8/8/2014. I wanted to say to all the moms on this site that I have 2 boys, well two mature young men ages 19 and 20 one is a sailor one is SR. When they left I thought it was just me being a mushy mom, but this site really lets me know that I am not the only one who is mushy mushy over their children. Our young men and daughters are growing up and I believe all the mothers on this site need to give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done with our kids. Every since i got the call from my son this past Saturday, I have been able to relax because I know my son is alright.. and like he said he is in boot camp in beast mode( hes a jock and really into physical fitness) ..I am still counting down to 8/8/2014 cant wait to see him smile in that uniform...and I dont care if he gets embarrassed I am giving him lots of kisses on both cheeks!!!
