Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 289 and 290

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My son is on Ship 12 Div 290. He is going to A school in South Carolina as a Nuclear Electronics Technician. Can't wait to see him graduate Aug 9.

gmmatusky, where are you from? Just curious since I know that 290 is all from IL, IN, or WI as part of the White Sox division :)  We're from Milwaukee, WI and our son is going to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio TX, he's in the HM program and then continues to Camp Lejune for Field Medic training :) His ultimate goal is to be a firefighter/paramedic or Physicians assistant when he's finished with the Navy .

We currently live in Baraboo WI but originally lived in Chicago.

Hi Everyone!  My daughter is on Ship 12 Div 289 too.  She is going to A school in Mississippi.  I think we're going to drive up to PIR from GA but we could change our minds and fly.  It will be a LONG drive but so much more convenient to have our own vehicle.

Hi CourtsMom,

Just 14 days 23 hours and 59 minutes to go :) LOL My son will be going to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio for A school. What is your daughter's rate? My other son is a Seabee EO rate and he's hoping to go to Gulf Port for his next duty station :) He gradauates on Aug. 7 from EO A school.

Hi Debi!

Yay!  14 days sounds so close!  This is my one and only child and we were not a military family but I think I'm familiar enough to say that her rate is AZ - aviation administration (no clue if that is correct)?  She wanted an office job!  :)  She doesn't really care where she goes unless of course it is close to home!  She so wanted to travel so I hope she gets to do that.  Selfishly, of course, I wish she would be stationed locally but I do want her to see and do as much as possible in this world.

LOL I know the feeling. When Elias had to reclassify (my current one in A school) the Navy would give him several options..I'd look up the A school site and if it was GL he would be like NOPE! But he really wanted a Seabee position and that's what he has now so he's a happy camper. Seth who is in bootcamp signed a Reserve contract to get the rate he wanted but is going to make noise in C school and sign active duty or full support (2 years active then back to reserves) as he really wants to serve but couldn't get HM FMF as active duty.

So will Court be going to Gulfport or another base in Mississippi?

She's going to Meridian. Sounds like you have a couple of smart sons!

Nahh if my sons were smart they wouldn't have left their mommy :) LOL They would have stayed little always and let me pamper them and then kick them in the butt when I was ready for them to leave! LOL Because you know it's really all about the MOM!! lol  I just miss them terribly..it's hard to have two leave within 4 months of eachother (especially a matched set) lol
