N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ok, that is too ironical- NavyMom -about the love/hate relationship with sailor/dog since I have something like that too!  My former sailor has now been honorably discharged from the Navy (last year, he went in during 2009).  He lived in TX for 6 mos before returning home to FL.  He and his then-gf bought a dog...just had to have one (sigh)...a rescue.  I have 2 big dogs here.  Of course, when they broke up, he brought the dog with him here since he was more the dog lover.  All you -know- what broke loose in my house for a while...she is smaller (25 lbs), bossy, had been driving with my sailor for 2 days in his car from TX to FL...was scared, tired, confused, etc.  My Lab plopped himself down on her bed immediately...need I say she was NOT too pleased.  Other dog is the "alpha" dog here (both are about 75-85 lbs)...and was not to excited about this little you- know- what barking in his face.

To complicate matters, she apparently had been abused previous to my son getting her by a tall man who resembles my older son -- who lives here.  Uh oh...barks when she sees him too!  Sigh....I will say...it has now been 10 mos since son returned home with her (he moved to an apt .... that can't have dogs....so guess where his dog is???? Yep, I now have 3).  She is getting better with my older son since she is very comfortable here, but still is a bit afraid of him.  He is my gentle spirit so it is not a personality clash.  Just his physical appearance (he is over 6 ft and if he stretches his arms over his head, she really freaks out).  It is very sad that someone must have been mean to her before my sailor got her (she adores him).  She is only 2 yrs old.

I think it's time you tell the recruiter that you have 4 dogs that are very ready to enlist too!  :-)

So glad your husband is better.  That pneumonia is scary stuff....Lala, one of our other N4Moms veterans is dealing with that herself right now.  She is getting better, but taking a while.  You will see her on here soon....we hope!

Hi Debi!

Wow, I think I remember you!  My Sailor Daina graduated at the March 8th PIR and is now in Pensacola studying IT.  How's your 1st Sailor doing and what's your 2nd one's rating going to be?

Oh, and this particular PIR group will be a very special one to me because it happens to be on my late husband's birthday.  So I'll try extra hard on this group to make sure all questions are answered!

...oh, and glad your mom/dad role was only temporary!

Comment by diannep on June 19, 2013 at 12:46pm

Too funny, Navy Mom!  As a widow since my sons were in their mid-teens, I can identify with the mom/dad role.  Not fun...and a bit overwhelming at times!  I still find it that way, even though my sons are now 27 and 29!  So much that their dad could have advised them on at this age...sigh....anyway, we are WOMEN, hear us ROAR!  :-)  Love your doggie pik.  My dogs are my "peace and contentment."  They don't come in at all hours of the night...  :-)

Good Morning!

Hi everyone. I just got confirmation that my son graduates on August 9th. Seems like for ever away.  I miss talking to and seeing my son every day. As I am sure every one here feels the same way.  Can't wait to see all of our graduates!!
