Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Peggy:  Thanks SO MUCH for this info!  So appreciated.  Wow, never had heard that about the guest list---meaning, that if you are left off the final updated one, you can get in by the original guest list.  So glad you got in.  So....you say you weren't on the list....were there others on that list that your sailor updated shortly before PIR?  I know they get to update their guest lists at that time.  Please provide a little more info so we know how to advise the groups.  Thanks!

Ok, I have kind of a strange question for all.  Did any of your sailors say that they know their RDCs were reading this site (and maybe FB groups too?) and would talk to the SRs about what was posted on here?  We know in the past that this was going on, and assume it still does....but haven't heard anyone getting in trouble for any posts in a long time---we monitor the posts too and try to delete anything that could be questionable.  Just thought maybe some sailors would have mentioned this if they knew it was going on.

We have no doubt that there are RDCs on the FB and N4Moms groups....but what we are trying to determine is if any SRs are getting in trouble for posts.  We haven't seen any indication of this in a long time, but I thought I would ask.

I will say our entire event was priceless and flawless because of this site and Sarge. I'd it wasn't for the two I would have been lost. If you ever and i mean ever need a place to donate Sarge wins hands down.He is the best thing to ever happen for PIR you can call him or his ppl anytime for anything.....We are on the road ans service is bad so I will add a few things later , but wanted to put my two cents in for this site and Sarge.

lol!!  That's funny, Emma!  I thought she was commanding respect because she was a higher ranking female than them newly minted Sailors!!

Congrats to all the new sailors and the families. It has been another wild ride and my second sailor is now safely at his A school site. I'm hoping he's getting some MUCH needed sleep right now. It has been a pleasure getting to know some of you! See you on facebook. This mom is signing off for the next adventure in Navy life :)
