N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yea Diannep I knew when I heard something that it wouldn't be long because I heard it the 1st phone call and then "I gotta go mom"!!!  I told my son yesterday, "no, tell them you need a few more minutes" and that's when he laughed and said "I love & miss you mom but I GOT TO go"!!!  :)  I was thankful for the time I got!!!  :)

Oh, Megan.  I'm so very very sorry.  So much at one time....I hope that there is someone who can "stand in" for your SR and let you vent, cry, talk about your friends who passed away.

Amy:  Ah, yes....the "voice in the background."  RDC's meaning...hang up NOW!  It is very abrupt!

Megan_2015 - do you live in the Tampa Bay area? I just read the story about your friend Lindsey. I am very sorry for your loss. I live in the Tampa Bay area and the story was on one of the local news outlets.

I am so very sorry Megan_2015 for your recent loss.  Along with everything else that must be very hard on you.   Those phone calls can never be long enough!   I got a call from my son also on Saturday, we had been talking about 10 minutes and hear some voice in the background and he says, in a very hurried manner, "mom, I got to go now"!   I was like no!   He was about to panic and said I gotta go!  I did see a picture in one of these info. sites of the phone room they have and there are not very many phones and I can imagine when everyone is wanting to use them!   I know your SR would have talked to you all day if he hadn't had that pressure on him to hurry up!   Hope you have a better week this week!  It won't be long and we'll get to finally see them!

Diannep:
Yes I am staying at Navy gate way for the rates. It’s half the price of the Marriot, and they also offer free breakfast.

I had a really hard time on Saturday.. I got a call from my SR (ship 14 DIV 270) Which I thought was really great... but we only talked for a bout 5 minutes before he cut me off saying that there was a huge line behind him and he didn't want to prevent anyone else from getting a call by taking too long... I totally appreciate Frank's good heart but I couldn't help being hurt by him cutting me off like that. Anyway just wanted to share this with some one because it really bugged me..

Also I have had two of my 23 year old friends die in less than a week so things are just building up I think.. One of my friends (Carly Cogan) died in a car accident 7/12/15.. and the other (Lindsey Marie Price) was murdered by her lover..then her lover killed himself.. leaving her 2 year old son parentless...
It's been a hard time and my soul mate is not here to share it with me. I find myself crying a lot..

I just needed to share this with someone, thank you for listening <3

Coreena, That's great that you want to "adopt" a Sailor for the day. Sadly there are those, for whatever reason, that don't have family there. Any of you can do the same!

It is best to ask your daughter if she knows someone who would like to join your family. It doesn't really have to be planned, but it might give those without family something to look forward to after PIR. :)

How do I find out if their are recruits that have family that couldn't make It to PIR? I was thinking about adopting one for the day or at least taking them to dinner. I will talk to my daughter to see if she knows of someone, but I don't know if it has to be planned ahead of time or if they can just make plans the day of. Anyone have info?

Karen93, There is a post in the "PAGES" column that explains the Recruit Petty Officers position in BC. The "PAGES" are located on the right side of this page under the member avatars.
